HI anyone on rail uk forums who may be from S. Yorks or know who may work for N.R. freightliner services is there still freight trains from Rotherham to Stocksbridge via woodburn jct the Don valley line I see there are Q paths on R.T.T. listed for teatime ish near forty minute from Ardwark Stocksbridge works R.T.T. Within the early part of 2023 or late 2022 has freight trains still been sighted doing the steel bar ingot trains on this ex G.C.R. line via Wadsley Bridge? It's just that on a Facebook page I've seen a posting about Wadsley Bridge on disused railways of Yorkshire no freight has been seen recently on the Don valley line Via Sheffield Victoria and the narrow gauge railway in Huddersfield I work at a fellow colleague who I work with from stocksbridge Says they do still run but on rare occasions! Although the line is still property of network rail and civil infastructure is maintained by N.R. exclusively for steel freight trains. And in 2021 there was talk of a feasibility study trying to reopen the line to passengers from Sheffield to either stocksbridge or Penistone (I think there's a separate thread on here specifically for that.) I ask this on here because it would be quite devastating to see this Don valley line be threatened with complete closure although it was the old G.C.R. woodhead line. And know that U.K. steel manufacturing isent in a good situation at the moment due to rising energy costs and steels alloys and other metal been mass produced elsewhere globally.
