Or should I say Thameslink! Anyway in the current (and past) TTs peak Bedford Brightons run via the Elephant.

If, say, a train had failed on the Down line near Gipsy Hill or something, could a Bedford - Brighton run via Norbury?

I know this route has been taken before on the overnight London Bridge - Three Bridges, when they ran as Ive done it before, but wasnt sure if that was just Sehurst crew (assuming thats a crew point) or if all drivers sign both Crystal Palace and Selhurst routes?

Yes all Thameslink drivers should sign via Palace and Norbury.

Fairly soon they will all sign Vic Eastern - Herne Hill also.

All thameslink drivers sign via crystal palace and via norbury. Our route knowledge could even take us a multitude of different ways (with shunts) you could even go around the Wimbledon loop if needed and back via west Croydon ( changing ends in Norwood junction)

Thanks for the replies, most helpful :). Was actually planning the example scenario for a Railworks scenario on the South London Route, but wasn't sure if it would be realistic if not all drivers signed the diversion.

Also was actually unaware of a morning one booked to run via Norbury, thanks for pointing that out :)

And from East Croydon to Blackfriars via Pouparts Jct.

One Blackfriars driver has already worked a passenger service from Brighton to Victoria, with a 319, on hire to Southern (on a Sunday).

Perhaps a bit off topic but all 3 Thameslink depots work the Brighton to London Bridge services, so as to keep up route knowledge. Not sure about the section between Tulse Hill and London Bridge. No booked work unless there is route refresher diagrams.

No problems - I discovered it myself quite by accident. I jumped on the first Thameslink to appear at Gatwick Airport and was quite surprised to find us heading to Redhill and then via Norbury.

You mean the route via Dulwich and Peckham Rye? Not sure if the overnight Thameslink's cover that route now, but when the City Thameslink section was shut for the Thameslink works, I remember doing a fair few overnighters on the 319's when they started/ended at London Bridge, and all of them ran via Peckham Rye, Tulse Hill and either Norbury or Crystal Palace (though the former I went via most of the time)

Yes, that route but only north of Tulse Hill.
There is no booked work via this route as the overnight services run via Herne Hill, and the ECS moves to Orpington go either via Birkbeck, or the South Eastern (Kent House or the Catford Loop).

This is only signed by Brighton drivers and the three Blackfriars drivers actually training the Brighton drivers, mores the pity thought I would eventually get to go round there on nights but would have to move depots now!

Yep, these are to be covered in route refresher days. I originally learnt this route then got told I no longer needed it. But then a very hasty U-turn and they decided I needed to sign it. Not actually driven it for 22 months though!

There are a couple of workings this way dead early AM - (and also some TLK crews refresh regularly Keymer Junction - Lewes - Falmer - Brighton)

TLK have access rights for all this - including via West Croydon - Sutton. Occasionally they run a train this way when the proverbial hits the fan...

Yip. Now signed only by Brighton drivers (and those older Blackfriars ones who kept it on their route card).

One runs every night still although only in one direction. This route also popped up on occasional Sundays when there was a block on. Blackfriars - Streatham (via London Bridge, Norwood Junction, West Croydon, Sutton, Wimbledon, Streatham).
