Can anybody advise me on any new rts games for the pc. I used to love command and conquer and all the spin offs, however the reviews on c&c 4 are far from positive. Anybody got any pointers?

Company of Heroes is to me the best RTS on the market, and some fantastic mods for it being Eastern Front.

World In Conflict is also a very good one, but doesn't follow the normal build bases format though.

C&C 4 and Red Alert 3 both seriously disapointment me for how poor the games were and how casual they had been made, I still play Red Alert 2 quite a lot as well.

Does company of heros involve building bases? There was another world war 2 rts game that involved being given a selection of units, as apposed to building a base and I didn't enjoy it as much as the base building versions.

Full base building and a few Building trees to go along.

The CoH wiki site.

The one you mentioned is Sudden Strike. My brother loved that game, but i was more of a fan of Age of Empires 2 and Red Alert 2 though.

Oh right. Thanks for that. Can anybody suggest any other games.

Also that name doesn't sound familiar, I don't think the one I'm thinking of was called that.

Age Of Empires 2, 3 was ok but a mega disapointment though compared to the earlier ones.

Rise of nations, Age of Mythology (Not sure on correct title), Red Alert 2 of course, Command and Conqure Generals. All will work on Windows 7 operating systems.

But sadly no truely proper great ones released recently, apart from Company of Heroes.

Warzone 2100, was released several years back for PC and PsOne and is now open source. An absolute must have if you like this type of game.

Don't forget Dune II or the later Dune 2000.

Dune 2 for the Amiga is AWESOME!!!! (well okay not awesome, but for it's age it is pure greatness), but watch out for wormsign!

I have a copy of it through WinUAE on my desktop, must get round to playing it again some time soon.

Another to watch out for, although more infantry based, less base building and much faster flowing, is Dawn of War.

My brother would murder me for not mentioning StarCraft 2.
I would suggest digging out the Sega Mega drive and playing some Mega Lo Mania.

Slightly different, as it's a historical grand strategy game, but ....

Europa Universalis III.
