Do you know a good place to park in outer London that is safe, unrestricted and has good 24 hour public transport access? Ideally the road would not be heavily parked but would usually have some parking so your car doesn't stick out. Such places near stations probably don't exist but being near a good bus route is good enough. The idea is to park there early morning/overnight to get into central London for early morning trains or coaches.

One place that I know is the Kingston Vale area next to the 85 route which is a 24 hour route and is near the A3 so can easily be accessed from west Surrey. That is clearly a rich area so should be safe for your car.

Edgware isn’t too bad, though the area has gone downhill a lot on the last decade. It has gone from smart suburbia to distinctly down-at-heel and trashy, but still reasonable okay to leave a car for a day or two.

Is there a part of Edgware in particular, given that near the station it won't be unrestricted? Looking on Google Maps suggests somewhere near the Edgware Way on the N113 route about a mile north of the station looks OK.

Nearly every station will have some sort of time restriction on the surrounding streets. In some places it's just an hour (e.g. 10 to 11am), nearer a town centre it might be all day.

You can park fairly close to New Malden station, if you use side turnings near Alric Avenue or Dukes Avenue. Easy to reach from A3. Residential areas so always seems safe to park.

Near Chiswick station is another place where it's easy to park and would be safe, it's just off A316 (M3 continuation)

New Malden looks interesting as you do seem to be able to park close to the station. You'd think that would be exploited by commuters. Chiswick also looks good from being able to park near the station but the train service isn't that frequent and you have to walk quite a distance for a night bus.

Suburban stations around Thameslink places like St Helier etc have no restrictions (N44 Is a few mins walk from Rosehill).

A lot of people use the A23 road to Merstham station (parking on or by the bridge over the M25). Merstham has a 24 hour service by Thameslink.
