I have to travel to Redhill from Londn Bridge atleast 4 days a week for work.I am currently holding Zone 1- 4 oyester card and I buy a boundary 4 to Redhill ticket(£9). Is there a cheaper way to travel? Will Oyester zone 1-6 be valid on this route?

Thanks in advance for your replies!

Redhill isnt in zone so no the zone 6 i no use.
What is the last station in zone 4, although as far as i knowyou cant buy a zone 4 to Redhill season ticket, a season ticket from the last station in zone 4 to Redhill may save you money over a month,
An example i'll use which may not be applicable to you is
Selhurst to Redhill, a monthly ticket is £139.80, travelling 4 times a week for 4 weeks will cost you £144 so saving you at least £5, possibly more if you'd of travelled on the remaining 3 days of the month after the 4 weeks were up!

The last station in Zone 4 is Sydenham Norwood Junction, but you'd have to get a train which stops there, limiting choice severely. Also, trains may be diverted away from the normal route.

A Redhill - Zone 5/6 Season is £39.70 weekly, or £152.50 for a month. With your Z1-4 Oyster Season, this would allow travel on non-stop trains between Croydon and London Bridge (anywhere in Z1-6 in fact).

Redhill - Zones 1-6 is £71.10 weekly / £273.10 monthly.

Thus it would be slightly cheaper to buy a single Redhill-Zones 1-6 ticket for the duration you need to travel to Redhill. (A weekly Z1-4 Travelcard plus Redhill-Z5/6 comes to £79.10). What Travelcard do you hold currently - weekly, monthly, annual? I assume you live in London and thus need to travel within the Zones - if you only need London Bridge-Redhill then it's £58.60 weekly/£225.10 monthly.

Bear in mind Season tickets can be issued for any period from a month to a year, so if you know you'll be travelling for say 6 weeks, you can buy a ticket valid up to the last day you'll need it (and then revert to using an Oyster Travelcard).

Are you sure its not Norwood Junction?

The train would only have to stop at the station where you change tickets if they were both season tickets or no season ticket was used. Combining a season ticket with a point to point ticket means the train does not have to stop.

Indeed - richw was suggesting using a season ticket from the last station in Z4 to Redhill, which would require a stop to be valid as both tickets are seasons.

Combining two zonal tickets - whether seasons or not - does not require a stop, hence my suggestion of Redhill-Z56.
