Hello everyone, I had my final stage interview which went great and now I'm waiting for the results (will come out next week from HR). Should I send a thank you email? I don't have direct email address for people who interviewed me so I would have to send it to the HR recruiter who managed earlier stages of the recruitment process and ask him to forward my message to them.

I'm wondering if that would appear as trying too hard, but all of career advisors and coaches strongly advise to do so, but maybe railway industry is a little bit different in that aspect and I should just leave it as it is? They say that such an email is an icing on the cake and many people don't send them so I should so I would stand out in a positive way.

Any advice on that one guys? Thank you in advance.

By the way, thank you for all help so far, with your support I managed it to the final interview stage and did great. Big thank you to you! Amazing community.

In short, no.

As you mentioned, It will probably come off as looking desperate. And in all reality, It's not going to change anything, results are results.

Just sit tight, hopefully you've already done enough to impress. Best of luck!

As someone who's job hunting at the moment (not in the railway industry) I'd be interested in people's general thoughts on this issue... is it good practice to send an email after the interview?

I've been working in several different companies for 40 years, including BR. I have also recruited staff myself. I have never done such a thing and yes it would look like desperation

Although it might seem like a friendly thing to do, don't do it. It's not normally the done thing.

And what if they write back saying "sorry, you were not successful this time"...?

How did you get on with "what is your greatest weakness" question?

No,

My partner works in HR and definitely don't call up every other day asking for information on your application, its one of HR workers pet hates.

Ok, thank you, so my intuition was right this time. For me that was a silly idea from beginning but I found on the internet that it is very good thing to do etc. that’s why I asked here.

Ok, I see. My feelings about it were right then. I’ll patiently wait until next week for results.
I didn’t have “what is your weakness question”, I had different questions (customer service related) for which I were well prepared so I did very well during the interview (I don’t want to blow my own trumpet but I answered all questions according to STAR technique, talked about safety etc. so did good overall).

Was it an American website by any chance? I've looked on the web for thank you letters (always difficult to write) and some of the responses (American) are so cheesy!
