Hi Guys,
I have my interview tomorrow and I know that a typical question is "what does the candidate know about the company?"
Now I'm not saying I don't trust wikipedia  but I'd like somebody to just give me a few facts about the company if possible.
Basically I'd like to know;
  • Franchise Length
  • Size of the fleet
  • Number of stations served
  • Number of stations managed
  • Depot locations?
  • Destinations served

Many Thanks
Rob

There are 60 trains in the fleet. 51 class 185 'Desiros' and 9 class 170 'Turbostars'.

Thanks, I knew it was around that amount, although I thought it was 53 Desiros and 6 turbostars! I stand corrected!

Drop this in railways and careers and you might get a better response. I'd imagine Geography and franchise (objectives, values etc) would be more important than knowing classes of trains although obviously this helps

When doing things like this I always find their Wikipedia page and their own website a good place to start ;)

See here and here.

Well I've looked there already, the website doesn't say an awful lot, and I just wanted to confirm what wiki says as fact. Thanks

Have you tried the TPE website Rob?

Depots are Glasgow Central, Blackpool North, Manchester Piccadilly, Manchester Airport(Guards Only), York, Sheffield, Hull, Cleethorpes, Scarborough and Newcastle.

A Preston Depot is due to open shortly.

I've tried Wiki and TPE's site, but wanted to get a bit more info. The website doesn't say much, but its probably the stuff they would be looking for.

No Probs.. Their Routes are:

Glasgow and Edinburgh to Manchester Airport
Blackpool North to Manchester Airport
Preston to Windermere
Preston to Barrow in Furness
Liverpool Lime Street to Scarborough
Cleethorpes and Sheffield to Manchester Airport
Hull to Manchester Piccadilly
Newcastle and Middlesborough(Via York) to Manchester Airport

Transpennine Crews also work Barton-Cleethorpes and Hull-Scarborough Services on behalf of Northern Rail.
