Good Afternoon I would like to get some answers if that's OK? So I applied for the Station Staff London Job at Southeastern I've done my medical in August. I have emailed Southeastern Rail at the end of August they replied to me basically saying that I've passed the medical as soon as position comes up I will get notified and get a start date, I would like just to know how long it will take to start the job I'm chomping at the bit atm. I was kinda under the impression for me to do the medical it wouldn't be too long till I get a start date.

Hello for the online test they will give customer service, sequence patterns questions. when you pass the online test you will go to the assessment centre, you will two paper tests to pass the first one you will given up to 30 questions if I remember you need a B grade to pass the first test I answered up to 18 questions. To answer the questions it will be multiple choice circle answers A,B,C,D for example. Then when you pass they will ask to do another paper test they will give a sheet with train times/train staions on it and a answer sheet, then using the sheets with the train times and sheets to answers the questions like for example the train at Victora what time will get to Brixton staion.

Then after you passed that test will need to do a group exercise so with this one when I did you don't actually need to pass the actual test you need show how you work with people and how you communicate if was in a team. The final test is a role play with this one they will give you a sheet of paper with layout of a station and sheet of paper with thier polices and procedures, I can't stress this enough you need to follow the polices and procedures to the letter do not devate. The role will be in two parts dealing with a customer who is nice for the most part they will be acting as a costumer asking about what time a certain train is coming in and when it departs and asking where they can wait for it. That's all OK the sheet they provide you follow that and give good customer service be friendly, simle.

The second part will be when the customer is angry because thier train is delayed and apparently there was no notification of it begin delayed. So with this stay calm follow the sheet of paper that has the polices and procedures and explain to the customer what has happened like for example the delay was written on the notification bored located in the middle of the station and if they say I want to make a complaint you direct them where they can make the complaint and I can't do it for you but all you need at the back on the left is the complaint letters and the box is on you're right side so you can drop it in there.

Have you had a contract offer? Were you advised about a "talent/holding pool" at all? It sounds like they've put you into a holding position but it is also odd you would have a medical if that was the case.

So they told me when I passed all the tests at the recuiment center that we will have a interview with the station managers then if we pass that that we will be put in a talent pool. Ok that's fine then from what I remember/understanding then if a position came up they would we take out of the talent pool and I would have do to a medical then I would get a Job offer then the start date. So done the medical passed that but not been sent a job offer yet but I am still in the talent pool for now, they did say this could up to six months but I'm confused because I done the medical and just assumed I would get the Job offer and start date after doing the medical.

Yes job offer > medical > start date is obviously the normal way of doing things.

It is odd they have done it in this way because presumably they will have to send you for a medical again in a few months time once/if your start date is confirmed. However I am not 100% certain on this and your previous medical may still be valid and perhaps Southeastern are trying to get this out of the way for a quicker onboarding date when they do have a position.

So when I went for my medical the guy that did it said because of my age it will be 10 years till I have to do one. Ok so it is a bit strange I'm glad I'm not the only that thinks that. So i have a friend that works for TFL yeah i know thats different from southeastern but he said hey look youre in you just have to wait he said no more then six month which i hope is the case ive been wanting a job on the rail for a long and going through all the tests and interviews, i just want to start but for now i will have to patient for now it's a matter of when not if now.

Hey Jor,
I did my medical July and had to follow up if they received it 2 weeks later.
I was contacted about some open positions in the area (but not where I applied for) in late July.
In September I was contacted for the station I applied for and given a training date, end of Oct.
I hope this timeline helps, but it all seems to take a long while and depends on the station vacancies.

Hi Team, Hope you all are well, I need some help to understand I have applied for southeastern station staff and I have received the below email, just says face to face assesment, but no paper assesment so I am bit confused, can someone please help me.

Thank you for recently applying for our Customer Services Opportunities.

You are currently in the queue for the next stage of the recruitment process, which is a face-to-face assessment.

Due to an extremely high volume of candidates, there may be a delay in your invite to attend an assessment.

Once we are ready to process your application further, you will receive an email asking you to book yourself a slot onto a suitable assessment date.

A "face-to-face" assessment might still involve paper assessments, just in person.
