I am looking at this ticket for a friend who wants a day return for Blackpool North - Doncaster. He wants to travel via Leeds so wishes to catch the direct Northern service to Leeds and then catch a fast train to Doncaster.

The Anytime return with YP railcard is £19.40

I have tried splitting at Hebden Bridge, Bradford and Leeds but it doesn't make it any cheaper..

Does anyone know any cheaper splitting for a day return for this route with YP railcard on Saturday 06/NOV/10? Even if we are only talking a small amount of money saved.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :D

Lancashire day ranger (valid as far as Hebden Bridge, see full details here) £11.90

Hebden Bridge>Bentley South Yorkshire Anytime Day Return £5.60.

Bentley South Yorkshire > Doncaster Off Peak Day Return £0.60 (!)

This restricts your friend to Northern Rail Services between Leeds and Doncaster, which run hourly. So it costs £18.10 but offers slightly fewer options and is about 15 minutes slower on average. On the plus side they can do extra pootleing about on the day ranger if they want!

Thanks for your suggestion, much appreciated. If it was me I would be taking full advantage of that rover but it's not!

15 minutes slower isn't bad at all..;)
