Probably a sign of my age rather than fact but wasn't the bigger of the two M&S's refurbished about two years ago? Hoardings are up and sounds like another back to the concrete, bottom up refurb.
Looks like a bit of a rolling programme by M&S / SSP - the Euston one is currently shut for a refurb too....Probably a sign of my age rather than fact but wasn't the bigger of the two M&S's refurbished about two years ago? Yes so is Edinburgh Waverley.Looks like a bit of a rolling programme by M&S / SSP - the Euston one is currently shut for a refurb too....
No it *is* the Boots/Barrel vault oneSo just to be clear the one that is closed for refurb is the one next to the Eurostar ticket office, and not the one between Boots and The Barrel Vault?
That's not been there all that long as it moved over when the Barrel Vault opened in it's old space. No it *is* the Boots/Barrel vault one
I remember that one selling some clothes. That's not been there all that long as it moved over when the Barrel Vault opened in it's old space.
OK, so I need to remember to head for the other one! I often have short connections at St. Pancras so I need to be efficient about these things. No it *is* the Boots/Barrel vault one
Yes exactly; though thinking about it must at least 4 years that the Barrel Vault has been there (maybe 5 or 6?)That's not been there all that long as it moved over when the Barrel Vault opened in it's old space.
So it was actually 6 to 7 years ago! Definitely my age....Probably a sign of my age rather than fact but wasn't the bigger of the two M&S's refurbished about two years ago?
Really? To me it still does the job without looking tatty inside.Glasgow Central one must due a refurb.
If I remember correctly the M&S at St Pancras was much larger when it first opened. I seem to remember it occupied the existing unit and what is now the Barrel Vault. It stocked clothing as well as food - I think clothing was mostly in the area that is now the Barrel Vault.
In 2018 the store was reduced in size, food was retained but clothing removed. The space formerly occupied then became the Barrel Vault. If the refrigeration in the food store is original it is now more than 15 years old and will be approaching the end of its life, so refrigeration replacement could be the reason for the refurbishment.
I might be mis-remembering but I think it used to be much larger than that. There was still a clothing part there recently. You can see it in the Google Streetview dated June last year.

I bet there's some emergency men's work trousers and shirts right up the back somewhere! Men's clothes are always furthest from the doors.Never been in that part of the shop myself. Looked like it was all women's clothes!
