Stafford Station Refurbishment

Work is due to begin this month on Stafford Station refurbishment. This will include road access, parking & concourse improvements. Does anyone know if this will result in access to the platforms being controlled through barriers, as Stafford is thankfully barrier free.

You would imagine so. It's one of the worst stations for West Miss Trains for ticketless travel.

So they still plan on demolishing the Royal Mail building for the secondary entrance?

I do hope they paint-over the exposed concrete to make the buildings more presentable. Brutalist bare concrete was all the rage in the 1960s but looks dreadful today after 60 years of staining.

Looks like this is just the public realm works outside the station front. Changing use of parking bays and resurfacing etc
