Just been offered a role as a PCV driver trainee, bus division is in North Hampshire (I'm aware of the 2 year pay back for PCV if you leave)

Have tried google, I believe I get a free bus pass and a 2nd one for a dependent/somebody at my address, not sure of what else is given?

Any information know?

That's about it.

There is a Stagecoach Benefits system. Basically a card you can preload with money but can spend in certain shops offering you a discount (5% off at Asda is the one that springs to mind).

Apart from that not a lot.

Remember unofficial and official use of your staff pass on other companies I.e. Brighton and Hove, Metrobus (non-TfL). I've got a list somewhere.

Thanks,

wasn't sure if I may receive some discount from SWT, Virgin or EMT as Stagecoach have fingers in a few pies.

Which depot you working for?

Not so much a depot but more a builders yard. Don't want to say exactly where yet, it runs as a division of Stagecoach South.

Alas no, no rail benefits for bus employees.

Free or discounted MegaBus coach travel. Nearest route Portsmouth to Manchester IIRC

Generally, there is no free or discounted Megabus travel for Stagecoach employees at present

Interesting, I always thought stagecoach got more free-bees but apparently not, I would like to compare mine with other PCV's around the uk.

£9.95 ph (no unsociable hours enhancements, no paid breaks) @ guaranteed 37.5 pw, average at 44pw
4 weeks + 8 days bank holiday pay
Staff pass + 2 additional passes
£5 rail tickets inc. £5 FGW rover per person.
£5 bus week tickets
Top up card offering various online discounts.

Be interested to know what else there is around there. I understand my northern colleagues get a much better pay deal?

Stagecoach bus drivers appear to be on slightly different hourly rates, dependent on area nationally.

Also there are different contracts it seems.

Mine if I pass the PCV is,

40 hrs paid, 4 x 10.5 shifts (minus break) Mon - Sat No Sundays or Bank Hols no finishers later than 20.30. rate after a year £9.28 (Pay award pending)

4 Weeks leave plus Bank Hols

My employment at a division of BarbieCorp included fully paid shifts, while the local Stagecoach boys got unpaid breaks. First also offer a couple of sharesave jobbies and the afore mentioned discounts website, which can be useful. I seem to recall there was a pension also available, though that might have changed. As with all national operators, pay rates differ wildly depending on where you are.

On the whole, PCV driving isn't brilliantly paid, but it can still be an enjoyable job all the same. It can sometimes also provide a step on the road to a job with an associated TOC if that interests you. Good luck, and enjoy!

Stagecoach Manchester deducted for the 30 minute mealbreak; but any other time would be paid - so if you came off a bus as 1300 and got on another at 1400 you'd only be deducted the mealbreak 30 minutes; the other 30 minutes would be paid.

Hopefully, staff considering a change of job will seriously consider the pension arrangements on offer. It means little to anybody when they're still quite young but will steadily become of major interest as they get older.

We still have pensions at First. However new drivers to the company both those who have come through the driving school but also existing licence holders cannot get the discounted £5 rail tickets until they have completed 6 months service with the company.

All well and good except it doesnt take into account and previous time you have worked for the company say if you transfered from the operations at Sheffield to the opertaion at Worcester like one of my collegues has done.

Mind you we do have a lot of shops where we can get discounts if we use our company passes/cards.

First also allow employees to purcahse shares in the company

I seem to notice first ,go ahead and stagecoach in the south (not London) and the West Country appear to mostly accept each other's passes but it seems far less widespread or virtually non existent between them in much of the north and Scotland ,but correct me if I'm wrong
