Hi

Quick question. I need to go from London to Stansted one day and back the following day. If I get an off peak return (will be fine for the times I’m travelling) can I get off at Tottenham Hale on the way back or will I have to go to Liverpool St?

Thanks

Yes you can. Break of journey is always allowed on the return portion.

I am sure there are cheaper fares for this journey though!

AGA price their fares to Stansted Airport at a premium, as is common with many operators who serve airports.

Edit: where is your ticket from & to? Not that it matters to answer this question but there does not appear to be a London Terminals to Stansted Airport Off Peak Return (SVR), unless I am missing something, but perhaps you've found a good value SVR already? e.g. London Terminals to Audley End SVR is cheaper than London Terminals to Stansted SOR.

Thanks

It’s a first class off peak return. I’ve already got the tickets, the travel department at work sorted them thankfully as it certainly isn’t cheap.

Yes that's an expensive ticket.

It's cheaper to go further, e.g. London to Audley End is cheaper.

No problem. Join us at a fares workshop if you want to save even more on other journeys ;)

It is very rare that a ticket from your actual origin to your actual destination is going to be best value!

I wouldn't say "very rare", but certainly for things like Airport services or routes with mixtures of long-distance and local services you're much more likely to be able to find some cheaper fare.

It's very rare for walk-up travel for me, given the journeys I do, and the alternative fares I am aware of ;)

It's very rare for me as well; being on the South Coast, some fares are set by Southern, some by South Western Railway and some by Thameslink. Varying the origin/destination on the ticket can change which train company sets the price. None of these train companies offers the best value ticket in every case.
