Hi

I wasn't sure where to post this!

Has anybody ever used the Stena Belfast/Liverpool crossing? If so, have you used it without booking a cabin?

I assume an FIP doesn't get a cabin discount?

Thanks.

I haven't specifically travelled on this service, but I have travelled on a few cross channel services.
Are you on an overnight or day sailing?
If the former I would strongly recommend a cabin if you want some sleep

I have done an overnighter without a cabin in the past twice. It does get rather quiet and oddly tranquil, and though I took a while to drift off I slept soundly when I did (raiding the bar helped mind ;)). The only thing I would be wary of is Liverpool FC fixtures, as you get an awful lot of their fans crossing the Irish Sea accordingly, and though they are well-behaved enough, the sheer volume of them can make getting a decent place to crash difficult.

I am doing the Belfast to Liverpool overnighter next week. With a cabin - suspect it’ll be rather a rough night without!

I’ll report back.

I use the ferry fairly frequently. I don't get a cabin on day sailings but I wouldn't contemplate a night crossing without one.

There seem to be a number of people sleeping on the floor / seats so it is possible to do without a cabin on overnights. But it doesn't look comfortable at all.

Enjoy the trip,
Mr Toad

On the one occasion I used it I compromised by booking into the first class lounge (which had worked very well on a Portsmouth to Le Havre crossing some years before). This was pleasant enough, but it didn't have any sofas, so I might have been able to lie down better elsewhere, and it had only a partition separating it from the main public area, so it wouldn't have been insulated if these had been noisy.
