Stoke-on-Trent to Wilnecote Via Tamworth - Stopping short

I have a friend looking to do Stoke-on-Trent to Wilnecote but has found it to be cheaper going via Tamworth, if his train stops at Wilnecote is he allowed to get off there on a Via Tamworth Ticket?

There is no "via Tamworth" flow for this ticket. There is an "any permitted" and a "London Midland Only" (which is not usable to Wilnecote as there is no LM service ).
There are also Advance ticket prices for LM only & Virgin only (again not usable and presumably never uisuued

NRE doesn't offer a via Tamworth ticket, it offers you an any permitted ticket and tells you to change at Tamworth.

From what I can gather, the OP means can you stop short at Wilmecote on a Stoke On Trent to Tamworth ticket (and I'm not sure of the answer :P)
