A friend of mine has recently become a bus driver at a London bus company, thus has received a TfL staff Oyster.

I know these are not generally valid on National Rail services but am I correct in that these types of passes ARE valid on NR routes that parallel LU routes such as Upminster- Fenchurch Street or Amersham- Marylebone.

I just wanted to get clarification and pass on the correct information to my friend.

Yes, and London Euston to Watford Junction via London Midland or Virgin Trains ;)

Bus drivers do not get a TfL staff Oyster card (the light blue one), they get a Bus operator Oyster card (the purple one). This is not valid on any National Rail services, except for London Overground.

TfL staff Oyster cards, and nominee passes, are valid by all Tocs on the following routes:

Fenchurch St -> Upminster
Marylebone -> Amersham
Finsbury Park -> Moorgate
Liverpool Street -> Stratford
Kentish Town -> London Bridge/Elephant and Castle
Euston -> Watford Junction

So based on this, am I correct in saying TfL staff Oyster cards are not valid on South West trains suburban services within zone 6?
