I believe that this railtour visited the line outside the Army Camp, taking the junction at Appleby on the Settle to Carlisle line, prior to the Army camp closing. I have found a leaflet about it, stuck at the front of a second-hand railway book that I bought in a charity shop. Unfortunately, the name of the organizers and the date of the railtour is missing, but I am sure that it is sometime during the 1980's period and started somewhere in the Greater Manchester area.

There were two interesting routes taken during the total running of this railtour. The first was from Deansgate Junction near Altrincham past the site of Broadheath station to Warrington Arpley (this route was lifted many years ago) and then it took the line through the goods line at Edge Hill, joining the Liverpool to Southport line between Bank Hall and Bootle Oriel Road, then continued running over the 3rd rail electric line to the Southport area.

Has anyone any recallations of this railtour?

Go to http://www.evr-cumbria.org.uk/ and click on 'Trains on the EVR in the Eighties'.
There's extensive coverage of railtours, but the one you refer to doesn't seem to be included.

Thank you for that link. Since posting this, I rang a few of my old contacts and I have had a telephone call from one of them to say that he vaguely remembers such a railtour that was run with DMU units from Newton Heath but that it was more like the 1990's rather than the 1980's. I have posted the leaflet on to him.

Six Bells Junction mentions a Warcop Wanderer tour on 23rd July 1983 though there is little information beyond the route and timings for the trip.

Thank you very much for this information. Yes, this is the one, as on the link on the site under WARCOP WANDERER, it gives the route which gives BOTH the two specific parts of the route that I put on in this thread when I first posted it.
