Perhaps not really part of the station but the new loos on platforms 2/3 weren't open last Wednesday whereas the Station Square loo was.

http://www.miltonkeynes.co.uk/news/local/battle-of-portaloo-in-mk-1-6064597
Partial quote:
The mayor of Milton Keynes is flushed with anger after being “boycotted” from the opening of a public toilet.

Councillor Brian White was booked in his mayoral diary to be guest of honour when the long-awaited portaloo opened in Station Square on Monday.

But at the last minute he was told his presence was not required, he says.

The U turn has now erupted into a political battle of portaloo, with a whole chain of accusations.

However, as I waited at Y3 for a local bus, a would be user of the new Station Square loo complained bitterly that the interior was swimming with water. Is this part of the design, or does it indicate that the drier part doesn't work?

Square toilets? Sounds uncomfortable...

I spose it fits in with MK's grid system roads

where is the new loo? I've been though Station Square a couple of times recently (on my bike) and not noticed it

It's at the south end of the bus island closer to the Station building - next to Y3 bus stop.

(The #7 bus which took me home was one of the very new all-electric vehicles.)

since they introduced the electric buses on #7 I've generally had to still use the old diesel ones. have they fixed the teething problems yet?

My journey to the Gt Linford area was fine, but I was very surprised at how rattlely(Sp?) the bus was considering it was so new. (8 weeks old?) I can only assume that the manufacturer's test track didn't include the infamous CMK speed humps, nor the now very rough surface close to the Arriva kiosk by the shopping centre.

Don't know why Brian White would want to attend the opening of a toilet. Would've thought he'd be too worried that he'd get flushed away with the rest of the useless [POLITE MODE]effluent[/POLITE MODE].

NEXT TIME: Councillor White has a strop when he doesn't get invited to the grand opening of my water bill.

It was in his diary though!

I have noticed a few new buses in MK recently. Not that one travels upon such awfully common conveyances you understand. Especially since Arriva deleted our development from the number 1 route then whichever operator acquired the remains of the route did the same!

To drag this back on topic: I notice the toilets on P1 at MK are now staff only :(

MK Bus User Group, of which I am a committee member, had been lobbying for several years for a toilet in Station Square. We really wanted it in the station concourse but LM refused to have one on the public side of the barrier (except for a RADAR key toilet which has recently been installed on the concourse). When the square was refurbished a couple of years ago the water and sewer connections for a toilet were installed but no-one would pay for the installation and maintenance of the toilet itself. MK Council said the CMK Town Council should pay and CMK Town council said it couldn't afford it and anyway it wouldn't be used by its residents so why should they pay for it.

Stalemate. Until the threat of all-out council elections came along. The Tories who have run MK council for the last few years were desperate to be able to claim to have done something positive about public transport. They have cut bus subsidies each year which means reduced frequencies on some bus routes and no service at all on others. So adding the toilet into this year's council budget was a cheap way of getting some positive coverage. I jokingly asked the Tory council leader when it would be installed and he laughed and replied "before May 22nd". And that's why the Mayor, a Labour councillor, wasn't invited because the Tories wanted to hog the publicity.

Arriva 150 to Aylesbury has some new buses, plus Uno C1

The 150 is usually a T or V reg DAF SB220 with Plaxton Prestige bodywork, in my opinion one of the worst bus designs in British history. Sometimes you get a 12-plate Citaro on it, but you're just as likely to get a P-reg Dart.

Setting the electric Streetlites aside, most of the Arriva MK fleet dates from the 1997-2004 period, plus a few 09-reg Enviros and the 59-reg Citaros on the 300. Uno use mainly 57-reg Citaros on the C1.

The newest fleet in MK is that of Stagecoach, who use 61-reg Enviro 400s on the X4, 12-reg Enviro 300s on the X7, 58-reg Volvo B7s on the X5 and a mixture of vehicles between 56 and 63 reg on the 89, 40 and 52. Route 99 is stuck in a timewarp though, being run with R-reg Volvos currently.

I'm glad I'm not the only one to mis-understand the thread title!

Yes, poor choice of words. I think the OP should change it to 'Toilets in Milton Keynes Station Square'. Every time I see the thread title a vision of a square toilet comes to mind - painful!

Done - sorry about the hurt...
I'm a bit surprised that changing the subject line was possible.
