Heya folks, started working on the railway and wondered if anyone could help me with getting a train drivers bag? I tried my manager but they said they can't issue it apparently. Looking for the modern wheel base ones if that helps.

You'd be better off with a rucksack, the wheeled bags don't last 5 minutes in my experience.

I suspect most TOCs order bags from a company like Business Image. As far as I know, they don't sell direct to the public alas.

That’s odd. At my TOC we are issued with new bags/rucksacks whenever we need them.

aside from what are the red pull tags for on those bags out of interest

Rip points in the straps so it breaks if you get caught on something. The small red strips on the side are just the manufacturers label.

I suspect the OP may not be Traincrew, hence the request being denied.
I am a guard, but at my TOC they seem to be quite strict, guards get black bags with hi vis strips, drivers get orange with hi vis strips

Do you know if they'd sell to traincrew with proof or by contacting my TOC. It's for no other reason than to have one.

When I worked for GA I had to use my own backpack, it was only drivers that were issued bags. That was many years ago though!

Depending on location, some non-traincrew grades manage to obtain all sorts of kits for various semi/un-official purposes.

You can buy orange backpack with hi Vis stripes on eBay.

I got one myself, not expensive and still do the job.

Please stick to what you’ve been issued by your TOC. I’m going to bring the thread to a close.
