Reports of a train on fire between Leuchars and Kirkcaldy all lines are blocked

Passengers have been safely evacuated from a train which caught fire near Cupar station on Thursday afternoon.

ScotRail has warned that train services between Aberdeen and Edinburgh and Dundee and Edinburgh will be cancelled or revised following the blaze underneath one of the carriages shortly after 3pm.



A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that all the passengers had been accounted for and had been safely escorted from the train.

Disruption is expected to continue well into Thursday evening.

A he Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “We were alerted at 3.06pm on Thursday, February 1 to reports of a small fire which had taken hold underneath a train carriage.


“Operations Control mobilised three fire appliances to Cupar Railway Station, where all passengers had safely left the train prior to firefighter’s arrival.

“Crews currently remain in attendance.”
