Does anyone know what type of train is used in this advert? It looks like a Southern livered EMU but I'm not sure which one, it's supposed to be the train to the train to the pie capital of Wigan based on the advert!

the train that enters the station i think is 455, but the train that leaves is definitely a 377

Enters as a 455, leaves as a 377 - apparently going to Wigan (good luck with that with a 3rd rail train) and its set at Sutton.

Well if it's a dual powered 377 if it can get to the WCML somehow it could get to Wigan.

What advert was it recently that was blatently filmed in Germany from the continental Desiro sitting in the platform but was shamelessly dubbed into English as though nobody would notice?

Well southern operate 377s up to milton keynes don't they? so yes that 377 probably could of got to wigan

So they should film a seperate advert for each country the product is being advertised in? Many adverts are dubbed as it allows them to film just one advert and then just have to change the voiceover, dub and any text depending on the country they want to show it in. As someone has said, the match.com advert was filmed over 3 days, that's a lot of money in itself, let alone taking all the equipment and crew on an international tour, plus hiring in different actors in each country (or transporting them around too and them still dubbing).

The man is standing on the platform with a guitar like instrument (forgotten what its called) - singing to the girl on the opposite platform ' Girl on the platform smiled, the best smile I've seen in a while. She must of been about 26... 28? 28. And her skin looked really really great, she was a natural blonde (?) She wasn't a natural blonde. [Train passes] Girl on the platform smiled...'
And I've just done all of that by memory! Shows how bored I get during ad breaks!

There's crossed wires here.
MCR247 is referring to the advert that used a German Desiro. The Specsavers advert is where a girl is waiting on the platform and runs up towards her boyfriend but then goes to the wrong person and starts hugging and kissing an old man.

Imagine if they had tried to film it at Denton with one train per week.
It would have taken weeks to get it finished.
Typical - you get an advert for a dating site and everyone is more interested in the train :P
(Honestly though, I'd not spotted the unit change from arriving to leaving. Also, I wonder why it took 3 days to film it)
I think that one may have been Specsavers, but I do recall thinking it wasn't a British MU

I've linked to it a couple of posts above this one.
I'd not noticed it either, but now it's just added to my general annoyance at the advert and match.com adverts in general (why do they always do singing?). I'd like to see someone try that in the real world and not get treated like a wierdo...

Yeah make the adverts more real life.
Advert 1:
Guy notices girl and grows to like her and after a few weeks finds out she has a boyfriend.
Advert 2:
Guy starts singing at station. Another guy comes along and says "Shut the **** up *******."
Advert 3:
Same as advert 2 but without the other guy. Girl completely ignores guy and song.

Although one of the worst ads I've seen is the old Impluse deodorant one, "You can't stop men acting on impulse." If the man was acting on impulse, it wouldn't have been anything to do with the bindt dropping stuff.
Although I'm slightly biased as it seems to be saying, "Impluse, it can turn them straight for you!"
Errr, personally that's because I'd be more interested in spending time with an Electrostar than at least 75% of women, and 100% of women for the means of this website.
Probably took three days because people on the platform kept shouting, "You're going the wrong way for Wigan!"
You get treated like a weirdo anyway without starting to sing on platforms, I've managed to walk down one street and be branded a wierdo before now, I didn't even have a tail on that day.. (I never have had a tail on, was next to a 6ft6 squirrel though)...
Advert 4: Girl realises guy was singing at the driver of the 455, gets jealous and bricks the train

You only see it for a moment, but it does look very much like the same one,. at an Underground station this time. I wonder if it's a sort of standard computer generated image?

I realised because the first train that goes past the doors seem to be indented in the side of the train. But the second train is efinitely a 377 and i know there doors arnt like that.

Then there was the recent Stella ad where the diesel loco was making steam noises...
That train in the Dulux ad is double decker - it looks like a Sydney CityRail M set to me http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CityRail_M_set .
