A slightly peripheral item. I came across an item on my newsfeed that the Tram Inn next to the level crossing south of Hereford is to be demolished; it will be replaced by a gospel hall and business units (God and Mammon together). The pub is described as ‘unlamented’ and there was ‘limited public concern’ at its loss; it has been closed for fifteen years.

Plans to demolish a country pub and replace it with new business units and a gospel hall have been given approval.
Hereford Gospel Trust applied to redevelop land at The Tram Inn in Allensmore, Herefordshire, which is based beside a railway line.
The pub, which closed about 15 years ago, was unsuccessfully advertised for sale between 2020 and 2022 but was now in a poor state of repair, the application said.
Full planning permission for the proposal was granted.

Hard to think of a pub anywhere that’s actually reopened after being closed for 15 years although no doubt there’ll be the odd example here & there.

It's one of those pubs which once had a purpose - when the station there was open and presumably served as a railhead for the surrounding area - but whose purpose vanished years ago. There are very few houses nearby.

Just looking this up, there was a Tram Inn station that closed to passengers in 1958 and completely in 1964. The station was named after the pub, which in turn had taken its name from a tramway that had carried coal into Hereford in days of yore.

I remember going past it. It looks a nice building.

The Tram Inn, Allensmore, Herefordshire

Alongside the B4348 on the west side of a Welsh Marches Line level crossing 10km SW of Hereford railway station. I'd seen this pub many times before from passing trains. This was the first time as a walker.

The Lower Turks Head in Manchester reopened in 2013 after 22 years of closure. It's located opposite the Shude Hill tram stop and is currently owned by the Joseph Holt brewery.
It is also in the current Good Beer Guide.

Take it that the nearby railway line (= The Welsh Marches Line from Hereford to Abergavenny?) is very much still operational, although all the half dozen or so intermediate stations have long since closed?

Yes. Just hope the signal box doesn't get renamed to "gospel hall".
