I have bought a Zones 2-5 travelcard on my Oyster, so that on the odd occasion I do travel into Zone 1, I can access PAYG fares on the Underground etc.

Is it possible to have the same travelcard also loaded onto my SWR Touch Smartcard, so that when travelling outside the Oyster fares zones, I can make use of Tap2Go?

So you’d like two tickets for the price of one or am I reading this wrong?
I think that the OP is suffering from the fact that although they have a Zones 2-5 travelcard on Oyster, and can use PAYG seemlessly when they go in Zone 1, they can't use SWR Tap2Go seamlessly for journeys beyond Zone 5.

Unfortunately that is just tough. If Oyster was valid outside Zone 6 they would be able to use that seamlessly, but because it isn't, they can't.

A travelcard can't be held on more than one card concurrently.

Is it possible to buy Boundary Zone tickets if your season ticket is held on Oyster? And can you buy a boundary zone e-ticket?

Shame, that would be an obvious solution if one could buy a Boundary Zone ticket on their phone. But if you know which train you're on you could buy one from the last station in Zone 5 to wherever they're going

Haha upon re-reading my own post I guess that is what it boils down too, isn't it?

Exactly. It's quite frustrating because it all feels technically possible - ITSO smartcards work at TfL barriers, and Tap2Go seamlessly calculates Oyster fares (albeit only on SWR services).

Doubly so for me because I own a photocard Oyster and have a Railcard attached to my Smartcard, so the travelcard can only ever be used by me (though I appreciate that's not the case for a lot of people!)

I quite like Tap2Go because I can break journeys without having to worry about permitted routes - but I guess until oval becomes a reality I will keep having to buy boundary zone fares.

Thanks all!
