Can anyone help me here?

I can't figure out what the validity of the German 9 Euro ticket and Czech "ticket for summer" is for cross-border travels, i.e. are they valid only to the first/last station in their own country, or to the border itself even though there is no station, which would then permit a through journey without buying a separate ticket for the cross-border part?

I believe that on the continent tickets can (at least historically) generally be booked to borders even where they don't coincide with stations, but I can't work out if this applies to these tickets.
I know that you can get cheap Munich to Prague tickets by combining CD fares and the Bayern-Böhmen-Ticket, but this avoids the problem by being valid on both sides of the border.

I also know that the 9 Euro ticket also extends to other countries on some routes. But it appears not this one.

It's not a huge amount of money to buy a ticket for the cross-border part but it seems daft to spend it if it's isn't necessary.

The € 9 ticket is valid to the last station in Germany, so that excludes cross-border jaunts. With some exceptions, it's Germany after all.

Trilex accept the € 9 ticket to Hrádek nad Nisou, the first station in the Czech Republic.

Thanks.

There seems to be quite a long list of exceptions for both rail and bus journeys - but they don't appear to include this route.

The exceptions will generally be where existing German regional tickets are valid cross-border, which isn't generally the case with CZ.

You can use Bayerisch Eisenstein/Zelezna Ruda and step across the border. It's a lovely route, but this summer there's engineering work on the German side :(

I quite fancy visiting Bayerisch Eisenstein - I find border stations fascinating - but I think I'll leave it to another time.

Curiously, a few years ago I thought of going there but didn't bother because there were bus substitutions going on.

Youre not overly clear on what tickets you want to use-have in mind, nor what route to be taken. I assume the direct ALex trains? Then also be aware that bayern Borderpolice still wants to check these on arrival in DE and there are always heavy delays for onward-often just to next train, 1 hr later.
The CZ summer ticket IS valid, as it covers CD, till border tariff points, except that it is about near impossible to get a ticket border-1st stop in DE. It MAY be possible-check yourself, via cd.cz and choosing the appropriate discount for CZ. Or simply at an equipped station in CZ.
CD always offers very cheap advance tickets to Germany via Cheb (have to choose that specifically in a special set-up) but to go to M this is rather roundabout (mostly Praha-Núrnberg for around 10€).
Except for what is stated above on TriLex, which runs in the far north of CZ in the DE/PL/CZ area, thus far away, there are no facilities for the 9€ to be valid on CZ.

I could have put the route more clearly in the post itself rather than just in the title but I didn't think I could have been much more explicit in the initial post or title on the tickets I was considering.

I'm quite happy to buy an additional ticket between border stations- I was just wondering if it was necessary. It's not something worth changing route over.

Yes I was planning the Alex train and if that means a delay after the border I can live with that.

If you are going towards Germany, I would try the CD conductor first and show them both tickets (I assume the 9-EUR one is available online somewhere). They have a reputation of being easy-going, and the worst case is that they will sell you a ticket with the on-train supplement which isn't much.
.
(NB I'm not sure what the crewing arrangements are as the trains cross in Domazlice).

Thanks.

The DB web site certainly suggests that the 9 Euro tickets are available as a print-at-home ticket.

IIRC the crew change seems to be at Fürth im Wald unless that's changed since 2020. I definitely had a Czech conductor board there back then.

Can also vouch for ČD staff being fairly easy-going. I boarded the Rumburk-Bad Schandau-Dečín U28 service in Bad Schandau a few years back with a day pass for the Dresden Verkehrsverbund and a day pass for ČD and the conductor wasn't bothered about charging me the €0,80 or so for Schöna to Dolní Žleb.
