Still trying to find my way round the forum so don't even know if in right section.

Basically if I don't have a ticket where can I go to view at Derby?

Also is there anywhere to view in to the depot to get the stuff in there?

Thanks for your help in advance.

You'd be very lucky to get into a working depot nowadays if you didn't have official reasons for being there... You could always wait for an open day, but they can be few and far between according to location.

You can see through the fence at either side of the station and see the trains, but it's not the best option. Why not get a platform ticket, or buy a ticket to Long Eaton or Spondon or somewhere and use the platform ends?

Not sure how enthusiast friendly they are at Derby...

Stand on London Road bridge, you'll see the station, turn around towards Burton, a bit of Litchurch Lane, a bit of Etches Park, and a bit further down you'll see the fuel road at the top of the RTC.

How do I get a platform ticket and how much do they cost?

Also a Long Eaton ticket sounds tempting

PS not had any complaints before but then again only ever spent up to an hour before boarding a train, spoke to another spotter yesterday at derby so think they are quite alright with it, stood next one station staff member righting numbers before.

Apparently at Derby, you can get access to the platforms if you are a spotter.

I think you have to go to the main desk in the booking hall, say your a spotter and they give you some sort of pass.

Thanks for information next time I go there I will enquire and will let you all know.

Just so people know due to problems at moment it won't be for 3week minimum but will come back to this to inform more.

Staff at Derby confirm that it is possible to train spot without buying a ticket, you just need to sign in. Hope this helps.
