Just booked a return manchester - London, paid with paypal. Expecting a print-at-home e-ticket.

However, noticed the e-mail I gave them ended .co.vk (not Uk). So the ticket has either gone to the wrong person (if vk exists) or more likely will be returned to Virgin.

Just rang them up and they explained it will take 2 hrs to clear; so ring them up tomorrow morning and explain.

Anyhow - has anyone had experience of this before and was it sorted out satisfactorily? But what would happen if the tickets actually did go to the wrong e-mail addy and they printed them off and used them?

feeling like £98 might have gone down the drain....<(

It would be an amazing coincidence that (a) the email address actually exists; and (b) the person lived somewhere that they would be able to use the ticket (rather than outer Mongolia).

Yes, must be millions to one. Impossible if there's no yahoo.co.vk!

Update - sent a test e-mail to the "wrong" address and it came back as a failure notice, so hope Virgin can send it to the right one tomorrow (or allow me to pick up at station)>

vk isn't a valid top level domain so that e-mail shouldn't go anywhere.

Is it not visible in your account?

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

Mail or Virgin? I booked it as "guest"

Just double checked the printed booking conformation and it's .co.yk not vk. Checking to see if that's an invalid domain!! EDIT it is invalid.

So just hope I can ring tomorrow and get them to send to the right one. Feel a right wally.

Have you not created an account with Virgin?
If you have, just log in and reprint it from there.

Edit: just noticed the previous post.

I would never buy something like this sent by email without creating an account with the seller. Too many things can go wrong with emails.

It can't have gone to anyone else and the bloke on the phone said it will be sorted tomorrow. Should be OK :D

Why couldn't they just send you a copy to the correct address?

One assumes they ID'd you over the phone. So why the wait?

As per the initial post, it'll take at least two hours to 'clear'.

Two hours from the time of that post would be 'tomorrow'. :)

Virgin Trains West Coast have only allowed bookings as a 'guest' for the last week or so. I'm not surprised there are already problems. For tickets delivered by email, it didn't strike me as a wise decision.

Sounds like unnecessary Indian call centre bureaucracy to me (I know that call centre well!).

On the TRACS system an agent can send an e-ticket to any email they like immediately, unless it's changed. I used to do this all the time. You don't have to wait for an email bounce back; it's a ticket only usable by one person with appropriate ID.

OK, thanks! all sorted, got my tickets this morning and printed them out.

They are a long strip with a Q-code thingy. Even with the best printer setting, they are not easy to read - wonder if people can slip through the wrong gates or something?

Anyway, all's good and a nice trip to see the delights of the Embankment/Parliament and, more importantly, de Hems dutch pub in a few days!!

Agreed, not a good idea.
