Virgin Trains Best Fare Finder (BFF)

I have recently noticed that the lowest advance fares quoted on National Rail Enquiries (NRE) for Virgin Trains West Cost services can often be bettered by using this tool on their website.

Examples are £7.50 fares between Birmingham and Euston instead of £10, and £20 between Glasgow Central and Euston instead of £30.

To be specific - Wed 29 April departing at 15.40 or 18.40 from Glasgow each costs £20 via BFF but £30 via NRE.

This may be widely known but I was surprised to achieve a £10/33% saving in this way !

Perhaps it to do with being a Virgin Online only fair, available only through the Virgin Trains website?

I have bought the said London-Birmingham £7.50 fares (well, the railcard discounted equivalent of £4.95) by searching and booking on the Southern website.
