Just wondered if anyone had been to a concert/match at Wembley Stadium in the evening and used the station afterwards?

Going to see Springsteen in July. The first idea was to stay in a hotel there but all the decently priced ones are full. So looks like we'll have to come back to Marylebone

Is the passenger flow okay? I guess they don't put on extra trains...

Chiltern do put on extra trains and stops, but it’s still a lengthy wait to get onto one. They also add stops going out from London.

What time does the Springsteen concert finish? It's a Thursday evening performance by "The Boss" in July 2024 isn't it? Or are you going to the Saturday show?

Wouldn't want to be queuing up at Wembley Stadium station after an evening event to get back into Central London unless I was near the front of the queue and so had likrly missed the final few minutes of the event.

If you are reasonably fit, the best option is to walk to Preston Road on the Metropolitan line. It's a longer walk but there will be no queue so is normally quicker overall.

Yes

It's the Thursday one.

General sense seems to be around 10.45 finish (latest is 11).

I really want to see him so will have to stand it. As you suggest might be worth leaving early. There are plenty of hotels within walking distance of Marylebone so it's just getting back there that's the fun bit!

Depending which side of the stadium you are in, maybe even walk to Wembley Central for either a Bakerloo or Overground towards Central London. Might be less of a queue as it's a slightly longer walk

Yes

Was wondering about walking to another station

Google Maps gives 33 minutes to Preston Road which may be a bit much. We are in our 70s - are relatively active - but both have slightly limiting conditions

My first thought was Wembley Park but Central isn't a bad shout

I find the Tube just as easy for the football events I've been to, queued no more than 40 minutes and a quick ride back to the City
It's very well managed and controlled

The problem you'll have if you don't know the area is how to get to any station other than Wembley Park, where most of the 'crowd' will gravitate towards. You could find yourself walking against the flow or trying to cross it. Whilst there will be a lot of people going towards Wembley Park, it's all geared up to despatch people as quickly as possible and in an orderly fashion.

The Jubilee line is really fast so you could consider finding a hotel somewhere near between Canada Water and Stratford - it'll only be a 30 minute journey.

If you still have flexibility on your hotel booking, look for hotels going away from London on the Met Line eg Harrow, Amersham & Uxbridge

Most travel towards London so you'll easily get one of the first few trains going in the other direction and not be squashed in.

E.g. The Premier Inn at Rickmansworth is under a 15 minute walk from the station

Whilst it is true that most of the crowd is going Southbound from Wembley, unlike certain stations where different queues may be set up for different destinations, into Wembley Park it is just one group en-masse, so any congestion control is implemented on Olympic Way for the entire crowd and so even people going Northbound will be subject to the slow moving crowd to get into the station.

Yes - depending on exactly which exit you come out of, Wembley Central, Preston Road or even North Wembley could be preferable.
