What's the contraction of 'junction'?

What's the official way to write the shortened word for 'junction'? I have seen it as Jnc, Jcn, Jn and Junct in various places, such as on electronic boards and on timetables etc, but is there an official way of writing it? Many thanks.

I always thought it was "jct", but have no idea where I've picked it up from.

There's no real system; it could be any or all of them depending on what you were looking at (ticket, timetable, CIS, etc). And of course on the roads it's pretty much universally J.

Ctl for Central and Pkwy for Parkway seem more uniform though.

"STNS" is the accepted for "Stations" e.g. "Manchester Stns".

Network Rail always use Jn in their publications (except where it's part of the station's name when they spell it out in full).

Hence I always use Jn (not Jn.).

Same here, I do think that the simple 'Jn' looks a lot neater and more presentable.

I much prefer the use of Jct.

Another one that gets me on EMT's Meridians is the use of 'Luton Airport Park' rather than Luton Airport Pkwy (or Pwy).

On most publications and official websites/publications I've seen it written "Jn".

The LNER standard pattern nameboard at Brampton Junction station still existed until the mid 70's and said "Brampton Jct"

They use JCT on motorway signs as well.

I prefer Jn on the railways (e.g. Dalston Jn) but when talking about roads, it has to be Jct (and the signs back me up on the roads ) (e.g. Jct 21A)

I like Jcn, but only because I used to used Clapham Jcn, which seems to rhyme nicely if enunciated.

I have seen some old Lancashire and Yorkshire manilla parcel tags with Jn being printed.

I have always thought Jct was the most used abbreviation. Language and it suse chanegs over time, so it's quite possibel Jn will become more common. If so, I will have no complaints!
