I know there was a landslip at Polesworth/Atherstone way with the storms.
Sometimes I go from Atherstone if visiting friends in the area (made even more attractive with the free parking all around).
Anyway it is still out of commission and I can't find any links to say planned time to fix - anyone know anything ?

Presumably the slip needs to stabilise before work can be done. Shame WMT seem not to see it as important to be honest on their website so people can plan.
I think it's been a waiting game for dates to come through from NR. I would imagine it will be update soon.

Seeing the temporary work put in place ( hardcore + metal plates)to allow
access to site, its not going to be a quick job.

A word of caution on the parking - most of the town’s car parks charge over 2 hours now.

Yes, months AIUI. Temporary job being done this weekend that will enable the speed restrictions to be eased on the three open lines, but that will render the Up Slow OOU. The permanent job is needed to get it all back.

Should be at 80 tomorrow. The work at the weekend is cutting the stanchion so the embankment can be widened ready for the new stanchion in January.

I take it the full Manchester service will return next week?

So my friend at atherstone asked at Nuneaton station about his season ticket as he needs to buy a new three month one early Jan. They said buy from Nuneaton as they don't think it will be fixed by March!!!!! The extra petrol and parking is adding up

Highly unlikely to be that long, if earthworks are finished by the 18th then it won't take long to install the new gantry support and check wiring. I don't think it's a large area of slippage, hopefully 4 more weeks.

Slightly off topic, but for some reason a speed restriction was never imposed on the up fast in the down direction.

Surely ticket acceptance would be in place? Has anyone got a definitive answer from West Midlands Trains about this?

Pretty sure it is, conductors have been advised to accept tickets to/from Atherstone between Tamworth and Nuneaton to give passengers the choice and/or use RRBs

Disruption until further notice .... https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/service-disruptions/polesworth-20241204/

During a routine overnight inspection on Tuesday 3 December, embankment damage was found between Polesworth and Atherstone. Network Rail engineers are on site carrying out all necessary repairs.

One of the two southbound lines is closed, this means trains from Crewe towards London Euston will not call at Atherstone (in this direction only).

Disruption is expected to continue until further notice.

1U00 has today called at Atherstone on the Up.

Lost a few minutes to report conditions to signaller and control. Should be open all day, fingers crossed.

Not sure why it needed to report conditions to the signaller for, the up slow was open all day yesterday from Amington to Nuneaton, I came down there with a liner and all was normal.
