North London or Mildmay line
If GBRf did take an interest I could see the ORR or the Competition and Markets Authority sitting up rather suddenly. More likely is either one of the FOCs that currently does mainly odd ad-hoc jobs, or an international logistics firm looking to secure a UK distribution chain.
I wonder if ROG are looking at this.
are the locos about to need replacing
Don’t think this is a problem. The class 66s have about another 20+ years left in them, likewise for the 90s and the 70s are still very new (although clearly have issues). The 08s and 59s may need replacement slightly sooner though…

ÖBB? The UK is one of the few European countries they don’t currently have their own freight operations in.

It isn’t British owned right now. Genesee & Wyoming of the USA own it.
No they don’t. It is directly owned by Brookfield and GIC since it was split from G&W last year.

As for a potential buyer, MSC has to be in the frame. It has been setting up its Medway rail freight business in various countries.

Medway livery is quite nice, looking forward to seeing it on a 66!
