Thought people might be interested to know that building works have commenced on the new Willenhall station. Starting approximately two years late, contractors have now started to clear the overgrown land that will be used for the car park and booking office.

Some items to note:
This station will be popular, and I think TfWM have underestimated it's usage / car parking spaces, something I rasied at public consultation - the plans didn't change though. Expect a LOT of on-street parking to happen in an already congested area.
Work is moving slowly but it's scheduled to open 'early 2023' now. More information here: https://beta.wmca.org.uk/in-my-area/projects/willenhall-rail-station-development/

Some items to note:
- For those that can remember, the new station is being constructed on the opposite side of the bridge to the old station
- The raised area in front of me in the first picture was a nightclub until the mid-90s (a nightclub in Willenhall!). When it got semi-demolished you could still see the floor / toilet / bar layout until it became severely overgrown in the past 20 years
- It will be interesting to see how they share the access road with the heavy goods lorries that use the yard at the back, they get a lot of traffic and there's only one access road in and out
- I drove past the Darlaston station the other day too - workmen were on site but it doesn't look like much has happened there yet - but the site was cleared from it's demolition and was in a relatively good state anyway.
