I drove up the entrance to King's langley Station car park, I wanted to see if there was a footpath that led to the wind turbine behind the station.
I'm a useless and incapable autistic person and sadly find wind turbines(and trains actually) fascinating. I cannot even get in a train as Im terrfied of being trapped anywhereI cant leave..
I literally drove in, saw no footpath and drove straight out.
I was no more than 60 second in the car park but they have number plate cameras.
Will they fine me just for driving in and out again?
I'm worried about this now.
Does anyone know?

You'll be fine, there's a twenty minute grace period so you won't be charged.

I wouldn’t worry. It’s highly likely there is a grace period, what if the car park was full and someone drove back out?

Regardless legally you have to be given ‘consideration time’, to decide if you want to park and enter into a contract. Although how long is not defined 60 seconds is miles of unreasonable.

You'll be fine. Even if not, with the new code of practice specifying 10 minutes grace, you could easily argue it.

I understand, but I'm simply incapable of handling the stress of arguing it,and have nobody to advocate for me. I did go in station after I drove out, but it was not staffed, so that why I asked here.

You would almost certainly "argue" on line - but glad we could set your mind to rest anyway.

All WMT operated car parks (that I have seen) have the first 20 minutes free for the purpose of pick up, drop off and popping into the station for other reasons e.g. picking up or buying tickets. You will be fine.

Since the legality of many car-park fines depends on appropriate and adequate signage you have to be given enough time to leave your car, read the signage, decide not to accept the T’s and Cs and leave…
