It isn't a direct train to Calais though, so I don't think this line of argument is valid.
If/when The Manual becomes accessible by the public, will it be the case that the information in it will apply to the restrictions "As Advertised" on tickets, or what about tickets that aren't marked "as advertised"? For example, will this ticket will cease to be valid on HS1 due to information in The Manual once the public has access to it? I doubt it, but it would further bolster Southeastern's claims that it isn't valid on HS1

By that train of thought the ticket is not valid at all as Calais isn't included on any of the maps in the routing guide and there are no direct trains and I assume the shortest route would be using Eurostar!
In reality with these things I think we normally take the destination (for routing purposes) as the last rail station used prior to departure from Great Britain, i.e. Dover Priory, Holyhead, Ayr etc.
Not just International, also got Southampton Central, Portsmouth Harbour, Lymington and lots of others.
True, I did think about the IOW before also thinking of Ryde Pier Head and Ryde Esplanade and deciding that would most likely confuse the issue.
Add in to that the fact that route: 'Any permitted' has the same meaning as route: 'Not Hovertravel'* I decided not to mention it!
* See Lake - Fratton for example, where the manual also states that Hovertravel will only accept tickets routed 'Hovertravel' and as condition 10 of the NCoC doesn't apply, it seems they can be restricted in this way.

Not to mention various ferries in the west of Scotland too.
And of course anywhere with a through rail/bus link, like (quoting random examples here) Hunstanton from King's Lynn, Hawick from Edinburgh or Carlisle, and Caerau from Maesteg.
I'm hoping to make this journey in Feb and checking brfares.com it's not showing as having a Network Card discount now. Is this discount still possible? Does anyone have a copy of the page from the Manual or somesuch that I can show to a booking clerk to speed up me buying the tickets, including the Control Tickets? I'd be very grateful!
Just this minute bought two anytime day returns from Feltham to Calais with a Gold Card discount for £24.65 each for travel this Friday from Charing Cross ticket office. Tickets were issued with no difficulty, along with the necessary control tickets. I understand from this thread that railcard restrictions are waived with these tickets, but is there anything I can quote if challenged at any point?

To clarify these ticket are only available from the following stations (break of journey is permitted).
If travelling from the SWML, Pompy Direct Line, Alton and around etc.it will likely be cheaper to split at London Terminals due to the approx £20 price hike for travelling from Guildford and Woking.

First Great Western will sell these tickets, it took me an email to Chris Brock (Fares Strategy Manager) to clarify this and a circular should shortly be sent around clarifying that this ticket is for sale.

Well as I have said before I have it on headed paper that SWT do NOT sell this fare. - I'll leave people to draw there own conclusions from that.

FGW sent a circular around today regarding the ticket - it definitely can be issued (by them).
Brilliant Day Trip to Calais yesterday. Helpful staff from FGW at Tiverton Parkway reluctantly made the booking as at first they didn't believe they could issue it - but they tried and succeeded.
Ticket went through barrier at ST Pan ok and no probs on HS1
Bus was fine from Dover Priory to the docks but remember you have to pay £2 for it. Bus from Calais was waiting at the terminal E2 to the town or railway station. Number 1 bus from the theatre stop takes you ti City Europe for E1 each way if you so desire.
All in all a good day.

Yes, I know what you mean, I always preferred Boulogne, it seems to have more character, I don't know if it is possible to take Eurostar to Calais Frethun and get an easy rail connection to Boulogne. I will have to check that out.
There are regular services from Calais Fréthun to Boulogne Ville taking around 30 minutes.

Pity there is not a similar ticket to Boulogne, although I can second that the trip to Calais was fun. There are trains to Boulogne from Calais Ville , & the bus stops right outside the station. If you want more details have a read at my report under the trips thread.
There is no longer any ferries to Boulogne. LD Lines pulled the plug around 2 years ago.

And for those of us who do not have access to the Manual, how are we suppose to deduce that the ticket is not valid on HS?
If, for the given origin, high speed is a mapped route, or no more than 3 miles of the shortest route, and the ticket isn't marked with a restriction against using HS2 in the Route description, then as far as I'm concerned, its valid on HS1. High speed services don't have their own conditions of carriage, nor are they operated by companies not in Appendix C of the NRCoC.
Is the implication that once the Manual is public domain, that passenger's will be bound by its contents (ie that it will form part of the contract)?

Good question - i will raise that - my view is that the Manual could be considered "notices and other publications issued by the Train Companies whose trains you are entitled to use" as below quoted from the NRCoC:
Tickets remain the property of the relevant Train Company. Each ticket is issued subject to:
(a) these Conditions;
(b) the applicable Byelaws;
(c) the conditions which apply to Electronic Tickets, Smartcards, other devices used for storing Electronic Tickets and certain types of reduced and discounted fare tickets as set out in the notices and other publications issued by the Train Companies whose trains you are entitled to use; and
(d) the conditions set out in the notices and other publications issued by another person if the ticket enables you to use any of their goods or services.
Train Companies will ensure that you can be provided with or have access to the conditions applying to any ticket you buy, as well as the Byelaws, before you buy your ticket.
