Not an easy journey as Heathrow to Watford by rail means a trip via Central London and a much greater time penalty (with luggage etc) - you can get a £10 fare on Heathrow Express , then the tube (£4 single) - then a free ride from Euston to Watford on London Midland - around 20 mins . every 15 mins.

Best get the 737 Green Line bus , every 60 mins , and takes an hour.

Do you know what is the fare for the bus?
And thank you very much for the reply.

In the UK, fare is 50% off the full-price tariff.
Single (One Way) Fare on a Portuguese FIP - £15.40
(No period returns, only day returns for this short distance)
---
Cheapest option I can see:
On arrival buy a London Oystercard and put the minimum £10 on it.
Use the underground to Euston, 1 change. -£2.90 off the Oystercard.
On arrival at Euston, buy a FIP single to Watford Jn £4.40 Cash.

...Coming back, there will still be £7.10 left on the Oyster.

It is probably cheaper to simply use Oyster throughout.

Heathrow - Watford Jn through Oyster fare is £5.50 at off peak times (off peak is based on when you touch in at Heathrow, and requires touch in before 0600 or between 0930 and 1600 or after 1900), via central London.

If touch-in at Heathrow is at off peak times, then using Oyster PAYG throughout is the cheapest option.

Alternative fares are available for half, or a quarter, of the price by changing onto London Overground services but I won't give details of those unless vanderoy would be happy with a long journey time.

The fare is also reduced if the journey is made to Watford High Street instead of Watford Junction (£3.70 off peak).

Another option could be :

140 Bus Heathrow - Harrow & Wealdstone Station
Train Harrow & Wealdstone - Watford Junction

Thank you all for your kind replies, i will land at Heathrow at 10:45, that means is off peak time.

yorkie when you say that using oyster fare is 5.50£, is it through Central London or by the 724 Green Line Bus? And i'm certainly not in the mood for a long journey time :D , i'm looking for the best time/price alternative.

The 724 Bus, seems to be the fastest way to go to Watford, right?

Yes. Picadilly line to Green Park, Victoria line to Euston then London Midland or London Overground to Watford Junction. If you can limit yourself to Watford High Street (London Overground only) then the fare drops to £3.70.

Thank you all for your replies, i believe i've decided to travel in the 724 Green line bus to Watford Junction 8£ is afordable :), and by this way avoiding the confusion in central London, with luggage and bumps :)...
After I arrive the Hotel in Watford, and without my luggage i'll travel to Central London to see the interest sites!
If any of you would come to Portugal i'll be very happy to give any orientation, in prices or routes.:D

Hello Mates

My company offered me a 1st. Class ticket with 4 "boxes" to enter the date of the start of the journeys, valid to the date inserted in the box and the next day, valid to ATOC/Great Britain Passenger Railway, do you know this kind of ticket?
Can I use it in Heathrow Express Free of charge? How does it work in the other trains?

Each box is 48 hours, very few restrictions. Some staff may forget this so you may have to explain what the pass actually is... most won't have seen a FIP before :)

Your overseas FIP should be ok on Heathrow Express, but if not, their staff will point you in the right direction.

Is Heathrow Express covered (As they're not a full member of ATOC)? I know they don't accept just about anything else including the ALR.

Yes, it's an FIP Free International Coupon for railway staff. 1st Class - nice.

Can I use it in Heathrow Express Free of charge?
Not sure about this myself as Heathrow Express is not a party to FIP (Facilités de Circulation Internationales du Personnel des Chemins de Fer) but is in ATOC (Association of Train Operating Companies - I would ask the guard (or is it Train Manager on HEX?) prior to boarding. I am sure that your pass is valid on Heathrow Connect at least from Hayes & Harlington which is the first stop on the mainline.

How does it work in the other trains?

Basically you can turn up and go. Most trains in the UK do not require seat reservations and 1st class is normally not so busy as std (standard class) - we no longer have 3rd. Saying that, if you know where you want to go the day before you can book seats at most ticket offices free of charge.

If you have time you should definitely come up to Scotland, you can travel via the West Coast Line (WCM) and/or the East Coast line ECM) from London to Edinburgh or Glasgow. Watford Junction station is on the WCM and the Caledonian Sleeper also stops there.

If you want any more info post back here or PM me. If you get 1st International Passes you should travel from Portugal to Scotland all the way by train some day - does the Sud Expresso still run from Lisabon to Hendaye on the Franco-Spanish border? I want to travel on that or the Lusitania

........pass the torniquet?

:D I love this expression. It's like something from the Inquisition! :D

If you are asking if we have something similar to le contremarque de passage des cheminots that you have in France to pass through the revenue barriers then the answer is no. Just show your pass to the member of staff on duty.

I'm only going for the 12th to 14th October, but surely wanna go to Scotland one day :)

Yes both Sud Expresso and Lusitania still run from Lisbon to Hendaye (Sud) and Lusitania from Lisbon to Madrid, they both go now via Fuentes de Onoro.

Meaning, I just show to the member of staff and he knows what it is, and let me pass :)
In Portugal most of the stations of Lisbon, have gates that we can only pass through if we have magnetical cards...

Thank you very much for yout replies. If you want to travel to Portugal the timetable of Sud and Lusitania are here : http://www.cp.pt/cp/displayPage.do?vgnextoid=0388f9e12a584010VgnVCM1000007b01a8c0RCRD&lang=en

Heathrow to Watford Junction per BAA website:
http://www.heathrowairport.com/tran...ches/rail_air-buses#HeathrowtoWatfordJunction
Fare: Single £7.50, return £15.
Only an hourly service though.
http://www.greenline.co.uk/serviceInformation.aspx?id=12531
Greenline #724 typically leaving LHR Central Bus Station @ xx:15
Taking 50-60 mins to Watford/Junction (traffic permitting)
MKD

I suspect the OP will prefer to use the free 1st class train travel if he can. The only question is if they'll have to pay to get to Hayes & Harlington.

Most of this has already been posted in this thread.

Thak you all, for your replies!

Just another silly question... When I check the timetables from Watford Junction to London Victoria, in http://ojp.nationalrail.co.uk/servi...C/131012/0800/dep/131012/2000/dep&saved=false
It shows the Underground symbol in the timetable, do we have to buy another ticket to the Underground? Or is it better to buy an Oyster card, for the Underground use?

Contacted the Heathrow Express services and here is the reply:

"Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for contacting Heathrow express

Customers that are in receipt of a valid ATOC pass can receive 75% discount of the full price of a ticket, This has to be purchased before boarding the train at a ticket office.

Ticket offices can be found on route to the station from all terminals.

Regards

Customer Relations"

Very nice :)

If by torniquet you mean the barrier, no. All barriers are manned (except a very few which are monitored from the booking office) so you would just show the ticket to a staff member who will let you through.
