What does everyone think about the horsemeat in hamburgers 'scandal' that broke today?

It must be a total night mare for certain supermarkets' PR departments...

Heard one woman was taken in to hospital because of it. Doctors say her condition is stable...

Over to you!

It's a Newmarket they're developing - the value burgers are Tesco's reponse to galloping inflation.

A whole new meaning to the phrase "Unexpected item in bagging area."

I tried one of those Tesco burgers.
Still got a bit in my teeth!

Apparently, when they ask at the Tesco Café if you want anything on your burger, a fiver each way is not the right answer.

To buy frozen burgers....or not buy frozen burgers...... that is equestrian.

Fed up with Tesco's horseburgers? Try Asda Korean meatballs, they're the dog's b0!!0cks.

Tesco have also been caught using zebras in their bar codes. Are these jokes gonna go on furlong?

1 person on Twitter was so fed up of all the Tesco horse jokes earlier, he was going to tell the next person who told him a joke to Furlong off ....

Neigh comment.

To be honest doesn't bother me, but it should be on the packaging. To me no different to eating a cow, sheep, pig etc

I had a lovely viande chevaline in September, I convinced my wife it was from cow, it was much leaner than beef steak, and I thought better tasting

Hmmmm, I will be in Luxembourg in a couple of weeks time. There was a nice restaurant just across the road from the station; sat down, looked at the menu trying to decide what to have and there was one dish which said it was "cheval". Cast mind back to schooldays French, veal? no, goat? no that's chevre.....ah, got it - giddy up! Went for something else in the end but have since wondered if I should have tried something new - I might well do if we go to that restaurant and it's still on the menu.

(Sure it will be better quality than a Tesco burger <D)

Don't know why people are getting on their high horse about the fact that horses were killed for burgers, whilst wanting a beef burger. :|

I went to the Cafe in Tesco after shopping yesterday. Whilst ordeing my food the waitress asked if I wanted anything on my burger? So I had a fiver each way

I asked someone at Tesco how much bull was in their burgers and the assistant replied "Neigh"

Admittedly I have always been a bit concerned about what was in their value meet, but otherwise I tend to buy fair amount of value stuff, particularly where its no different.

What I want to know is have they withdrawn just the tested and contaminated batches or does this stuff get tested regularly by the likes of the FSA, in which case why does one testing cycle suddenly show up mass contamination across multiple suppliers and retailers? I guess the Irish testing was a one off (the result of a tip off possibly?) in which case I shall return to the very expensive but ethical method of meat purchasing.

A lot of the pictures of the Tesco burger packaging used by the media show a bit in the corner that says "8% More Beef". Presumably that means 8% less horse..?

I'm sure if you happen to digest one of these burgers you will be stable enough to post on here, I mean there is neigh need to worry, they wont be round furlong.
