my stage 1 isn't until the 4th march. I'm practicing, but I want this position so bad I might actually cry if I don't get through :( I guess we all feel the same. Good luck to everyone. Hope they haven't filled the positions before I get to try out :)

Just had an email from East Midlands Trains. I was afraid to read it as it wasn't a call from Tania. However, it was to inform me that I've passed stage 2 and have been placed in the talent pool.

I wouldn't worry if I were you. There will be more positions after March.

Hi All.

Just a quick question with regards to the Group Bourdon paper test.

I'm getting completely different results when carrying out this test on the computor format than i am on the paper format. Ie when i do it on the computor I am getting down to lines 12 and 13 with no errors, but when i practice on the paper format I'm only getting as far as line 6 with no errors, even though i have been giving it lots of practice. Is this inline with everyone else's experience or should be getting more lines covered?

Regards Kev

The important thing is no errors mate on one section of the GB test I only completed 5 lines but made no errors and I made it through it's a paper exercise on the day with 5 different sections to run through I thought I hadn't done anywhere near enough lines but was pleasantly surprised to find I had passed

have there been many females going through selection?

There were 2/3 in my first assessment and 2 on my 2nd assessment day

The group bourdon is designed to track your concentration so the idea is to be as strong in your last lines as you were in the rest of them.

It's everything in your practice booklet up to, but not including, the computerised tests. There are no computerised tests or interview on stage one.

Hope this helps.

Hi All thanks for your prompt responses regarding stage 1 tests and what they include.

The reason I asked the question was because on Page 4 of the booklet it states the following-:

"You may also be asked to sit some additional assessment exercises"

So therefore I queried if any of you that had already sat the stage 1 had carried out any other testing on the day.

We didn't on our 1st assessment. Is it at the Academy in Derby? If so they probably won't have the other tests on the same day. They do it like that to reduce the amount of candidates going through to interview and on to stage 2. I know through our assessments it was approx 160 on the first stage down to about 70 for interview. And I only know of 2 stage 2 assessments with 6 people in on each day, there was probably more

Thanks Dave for you reply. That puts my mind at rest, knowing that there will be no hidden surprises on the day in the form of any other tests.

Hi guys,

Has anybody received the Talent Pool confirmation letter via email or been contacted regarding the medical/training course yet?

Along with a few others on here I've got my Stage 1 next week on 3rd March, getting quite nervous now!
Can anyone tell me what dress code would be expected on the day please?

PS Congratulations to all those already passed!!
