Good Morning,

I may have to attended a thanksgiving service following a funeral this coming Friday 13th Jan around 1430 hrs. It is near the village of Nutbourne, I think the Church is in a nearby smaller village called Chidham? In west Sussex.

I don't drive and I would have normally gone down there from where I live in Shepperton by train to Nutbourne Station, however that is one of the days that the main rail firm in that area is likely to be on strike with hardly any trains.

I was wondering about using SWT to Havant or Petersfield which seem to be the nearest alternative stations that hopefully will be running a normal service, but I can not find if there are any bus services from either of those places to Nutbourne. There was a link to one firm but the 404 error message came up.

I was wondering if anyone reading this may live down in that area and would have any knowledge about local buses.

Many Thanks.

Stagecoach 700 runs along the A259 between Havant and Chichester and therefore to Nutbourne. It is just that there isn't a timing point there.

Hopefully these links to Traveline work

If they don't work, go to http://www.travelinesoutheast.org.uk/, to Find a Timetable, type in service 700 and you want the bit which runs Flansham Park - Bognor Regis - Chichester - Havant - Portsmouth

I'm not local but looking at Google Maps the best bus route to take looks like the Stagecoach 700Coastliner Route which goes from Havant to Nutbourne

If you click on All Stops however it will show times for Nutbourne

Note that the roads will likely be busier due to the strike (and Chichester suffers from terrible congestion at the best of times).

Glad you gave us a bit of context, as there is more than one Nutbourne in West Sussex!

If at all possible aim for the bus BEFORE the one you think should get you there in plenty of time, particularly bearing in mind the date!

I was almost late for my godmother's funeral in Selsey because there was at the time an approx. three mile single carriageway working with consequent long hiatus before the lights changed.
