FFR/Test runs
Nil return so far this week, with Class 397 being out each day.

I think TP12 must be approaching 2000 miles, so fingers crossed for a hand over soon.

List of accepted sets and dates below:
Nova 3 sets accepted

TP09 12.04.2019
TP06 15.05.2019
TP04 04.07.2019
TP11 11.07.2019

As always, happy to be corrected on any of the info:)

I don't know what the loadings are like on the NOT/LIV services, but surely it's more stop start than some other services and would be better with doors at thirds - so 185s?

It's currently pairs of 158s for the vast majority, so I can't see reducing capacity to a single 185 being acceptable. Perhaps the reason Mk5s are being suggested is due to platform constraints?

Oh no! I hope this doesn’t happen!

East Midlands Railway suggesting Nottingham-Liverpool transfer to TransPennine Express using Class 68/Mk 5A sets. Hopefully just a ‘clickbait’ story;)

https://www.railmagazine.com/news/network/discussions-on-norwich-liverpool-route-split-continue

This has been rumoured and talked about before.

I for one would love to have a certain amount of Class 68 and Mk5a sets running via the Cheshire Lines Committee route through Warrington Central on Liverpool to Nottingham services, would make alot of sense.

Got some info, I've heard from some high up staff that the Nova 3 is only going to be running in the week (next week) so my suggestion is to head out on Monday for a Scarborough service and you might be lucky ;)

I'd have thought the difference in length between a Nova3 set and a pair of 185s isn't massive. The current Liverpool to Norwich services often use the bay at the South end of Sheffield (on the island furthest from the ticket office) which I doubt could hold either formation.

EDIT: Apologies for the off-topic, just seen the mods note above.

He hasn't got a clue and thrives off the attention of people thinking he has genuine information.

All that nonsense further up the thread about a 'Press Train'? Also complete BS.

I can't share the internal information with you, but I can share that @Jack Brown continually spouts pure fiction.

Okay, would you care to post your top information then?

I'll refrain from being rude, but if you read a couple of the posts above you'll know that as a member of staff within the industry, I am not permitted to share internal information relating to any aspect of the company's service delivery, including new trains.

With the ‘New Order’ approaching, ‘True Faith’ seems common amongst some.

Whilst the ‘Temptation’ of the ‘Sub-Culture’ of Facebook is clear, and I hope everyone has a ‘Fine Time’, I just hope some don’t ‘Regret’ and watch in ‘Shellshock’ as they watch the ‘New Dawn Fade’;)

Railway stations at 06:00 can be miserable places when the train you were expecting doesn’t turn up...

The 5E31/5P68 workings the other week took us all by surprise, seemingly insiders included!

All that said, I’ll be checking Real Time Trains/Traksy. As always, I don’t work for the railway and have zero inside info, but I do have memories of leaping for Class 50s that turned out to be 47s!

Surely there aren't enough sets for this to happen, so more would need to be ordered. Is there any contractual provision for a follow up order to do this?

After the carry on with getting these initial few sets into service you'd have to think TPE are utterly sick of CAF LHCS and the problems they've had. Especially since these were supposed to be the quick solution to the overcrowding issues.

TPE livery spreading it's wings. Good piccies.

Is there anywhere from the railway at Middlesborough to get photos of the TPE locos/trains and the Transporter Bridge in the same picture?
Actually, I was a bit careless with my angles. The Transporter Bridge is visible, in the distance, from the new car park just beyond platform 1, where were took my first photograph.

In fact, part of the bridge is still visible just behind the 68 in my first image, If you look closely. It will be much easier when the pacer isn't there.

I don't think it's just TPE who are rather sick of the poor quality of CAF LHCS (and possibly also their DMUs, looking at the 195 thread). It really does seem a case of "buy cheap, buy twice" or somesuch. TPE really must be kicking themselves for not having simply ordered a homogeneous fleet of 5-car 80x, and Northern (and their long-suffering passengers) must be wishing they'd gone with Stadler.

Not to mention Caledonian Sleeper...

Ahh, if only Siemens could produce a UK-gauge Railjet set.

alternatively, after going though all the learning and the testing and the snagging list with these units, TPE might not want to go through it all again with a different manufacturer and different trains. There are other arguements for inter-operability and economies of scale from having a more standard fleet too.
