On the radio, “Everybody’s heard of My Pillow!”. I had never heard of them until they started advertising in every break! I suppose that’s the point but it still seems a bit smug.
Everybody's heard of them because of their lunatic founder and his "Trump had victory stolen" rants... there are times when everybody having heard of you isn't a good thing, just ask Gerald Ratner!

There's another company out there which appears to be one of their rivals but their advert is so similar I always think it is a Peleton advert until the different name comes up right at the very end.

I have been receiving the same video of that VOXI advert where a woman is on her phone and begins to laugh in an exaggerating way alongside some upbeat music and a narrator explaining how the data blah blah blah. I really loathe such adverts where they force themselves to be funny, like most companies try to be "hip" with today's youth, most notably through the use of memes. If anyone knows the rules of memes, the very first rule is that you don't force it, otherwise it would be very cringeworthy.

Any IKEA ad. First, I don't understand them. Secondly, that tagline at the end 'the wonderful everyday' There seems to be an issue with Americanisation of quite a few phrases nowadays. Are they trying to be clever by using 'everyday' rather than 'every day' I've seen a National Trust poster at a gate declaring 'Now open everyday'. No one seems to use 'any more' any more, it is usually 'anymore'. My local council put up some signs saying 'No parking at anytime'. They didn't stay long.

On the other side of the coin, I saw an advert for Grolsch that I really liked recently. A nice traditional product, lots of nice enticing shots of flowing bubbly beer, a pleasent voicover calmly explaining why the product was good. All in all, a good, traditional "to the point" advert, not shouty, in your face, gimmicky or obtuse.

Any perfume advert whose storybook images bear no relation whatsoever to the product being marketed.
That's only because we haven't been able to transmit smell over the TV network so far! Imagine smelling Opium through the TV...

Adverts for fragrances are usually more prevalent around Christmas but I don't mind them, if only because of the eye-candy factor (the Jean-Paul Gaultier ad in particular...)

Vax is doing my head in just now, mainly because their adverts are so long.

I very rarely watch commercial TV these days but one thing that did annoy me was any advert that was repeated in the same ad break that had been going on for over three minutes.

Not as bad as Heart FM (yes I know that's radio), of which a seemingly large proportion of its broadcasting is adverts.

I very rarely watch commercial TV these days but one thing that did annoy me was any advert that was repeated in the same ad break that had been going on for over three minutes.

Not as bad as Heart FM (yes I know that's radio), of which a seemingly large proportion of its broadcasting is adverts.

I can't listen to Heart because of all their adverts and that in 2019 all they seemed to play were Tom Walker and Lewis Capaldi.

Ironically I found Heart FM's advert on TV quite endearing, whereas I'd never listen to commercial radio because I can't be doing with radio adverts.

I don't. Some of them are like fingernails on a blackboard to me, to the point where I switch off before the advert has got to the point, effectively nullifying any marketing attempt on me. This applies in particular to the waffleverts, where it takes nearly half a minute of gibberish before they get to the point of what they are trying to sell. I still haven't worked out what they are selling because if they haven't said it within ten seconds, the radio goes off.

The charity shop where I volunteer tends to have Smooth FM on, which is far less populated with adverts and I enjoy the music.

Theres one which involves Jamie Theakston and some nice young men kissing which appeals to me.

In truth though, I'm unlikely to convert to commercial radio.

My word for any advert which has an irritating song and/or wibbles on for seemingly ages before you get to find out what it is trying to sell. Ages means well over 10 seconds before it even starts to get to the point.

Can't say I've ever seen the term "waffleverts" used anywhere else before, but I suppose all newly coined portmanteau words have to appear somewhere first! o_O

I was looking for a new radio station to listen to on the odd occasion I put it on, as I'm just getting tired of the annoying Steve Wright either talking, or "singing" over records. So i tried Heart, and got tired of the annoying adverts, but i found Smooth FM worse. They seemed to be all adverts with the odd song thrown in for good measure. I got an Alexa, and now listen to uninterrupted music with no annoying DJ, or adverts to out up with.

Heart FM? Aren't they that station that only have a playlist of about 12 songs, of which 4 are "No Ordinary Love" by Sade?

According to the ads, June 21st and 22nd are Amazon Prime day. Can't you count, Amazon?
I think they're going for the "happy hour" thing...

I agree the BBC should stop advertising themselves they could use the time to take commercial ads and save us the licence fee
They advertise the same progs on i player all the time
