Hello.
Just found out I’ve got my Stage 2 tests next Thursday down in Cardiff. How long does the software take to arrive from traineetraindriver.com or is it something you can access instantly once you’ve paid?
Thanks.
You can download as soon as you pay
Well worth in my view
A cheap joystick from Asda worked for the co ordination test

Is this the one I need then? Will this include everything I will be tested on (apart from a control pad).
Website seems a bit confusing to me with so many different packages.

Hi there, well done! Although you can buy the disks, its quicker and easier to buy it online and then download it. It's pretty much instant. Best of luck

That’s the pack I used mate
£60 was as close as you can get to the real thing
Worked fine on the lap top and I got a cheap joystick from Asda which worked a treat

Nearly 2 week wait for the dmi result was worth it! Passed and possibly start training at the end of September if the medical goes ok.
Hope the medical went well for you mate.

Hi is the second stage download worth it? I passed the assessment day so will going to Cardiff soon Xx
Hi,

This is just my personal opinion, but in my view yes. Some people think the practise material is enough, others use online practise material. It certainly helped me in my preparation, and I'm glad I invested. Hope that helps.

The tests on there are the closest ones to the stage 2 tests. I have tried contacting Laura just to find out if the test results I have are to their standard so I can move straight onto the DMI. Fingers crossed but I am lucky I am in a good job now and can wait .

They are enhanced but I believe each TOC has different levels of enhanced. I have heard rumours that the TOC I am currently with is the highest and the only difference between standard and enhanced is the score on the group bourden test. I may have been parked and not hear anything until the cohort I am in has reached the DMI stage. This is what I am hoping for anyway. Preparing for interview now so I ensure that I have my best examples.

Good news - hopefully you’re up there on the scores then

Fingers crossed. I am a depot driver at present but want to go mainline asap. Researching TFW, I like the company, the routes and the traction so fingers crossed for my interview .

Pretty sure TfW are standard, not enhanced. Unless they changed very recently.
Myself and several other posters here which discussed it previously were led to believe that it's enhanced, but I've never had it officially confirmed one way or another.

I was at testing last September and was told by the TfW employee running the tests that it was a National standard pass and not an Enhanced level pass. People also seem to either pass or fail with TfW with one strike gone, whereas with companies who adopt Enhanced level pass rates, the company will fail people from there process but also let them know that they didn’t reach the expectation the company was looking for but that they didn’t actually fail to standard (or similar wording to that effect). I have not yet read anyone saying they tested with TfW, that they were exited from the process for not reaching company standard but didn’t lose a life. I’m not saying that this hasn’t happened, as not everyone posts everything on here, and of course TfW may well have changed their standard like Northern did fairly recently, but I’m just going on my own experiences so far. Hope this helps..

*TfW no longer seem to show on the OPC list of National/Enhanced, so perhaps there is some change there.. Who knows what on earth goes on, it’s so hidden from view, and Everyone runs it differently!?

Yes mate - also you can change an answer or add additional if it evidences the skill area
You will have the sheet you filled in at Stage 1 to refresh your memory

took around an hour and I felt was relaxed

you will be asked additional questions from the examples you give
The SJE at the start of the day generates these

Thanks for the reply once again plodster. Was this provided before (via an email) or was it handed to you on the day?

On the day so you can remind yourself
We did the computer and SiJE then a lunch break
When we returned the forms were out on the desk for us to read over
They take the form back then at the start of your MMI
One guy left at that point unfortunately

Hi,

Appreciate this is a very dated post however I applied for TFW in Aug 2020, had email to say i passed sift only about a month ago and have my stage 1 tests on Tuesday. Lots of people seem to be a lot further on in the process having applied for same recruitment drive. I am a year into process and havent got anywhere yet.
Does anyone know if there is a maximum time limit on your application, albeit its out of my control?
Can i expect to wait another year or two before i know if i will get the job?
I am in a secure job but hate it. I am applying for other things as i am not sure i can wait years for this.

Anyone any advice?
Thanks all 8-)

Strange that when I did this, they didn’t give the 4 of us anything. I had filled in that paper a month previous and couldn’t remember exactly what was asked or what I had filled in. So after the computer tests we were also in a break room but never had any previous info to read over. Defo inconsistent.

I've been offered a potential course on 27th Sept, but need to do a medical and at least see a contract before I give notice at work. Haven't been able to get hold for Laura since receiving that email on Tuesday! No reply to emails, and phone is ringing out. Is anyone else experiencing these issues? Has recruitment suffered a meteorite strike or something??
Hi mate, the contract gets sent to you after the completion of your medical.

Would not panic. I applied July 2020. Got an email two weeks ago asking me if I could attend stage 1 assessments. Guessing you would get your results in about a week. If you pass them it’s just waiting for a date on your stage 2 assessment.

I would not panic I am the same heard about a month ago however, not heard anything regarding stage 1 :D. I do not know if its because I have already completed the psychometrics with another TOC. Remember its been the holidays and I am guessing HR will not work bank holidays. Also, it will be a four day week this week so I would wait at least 3 more weeks before trying to contact them again. Its up to you though :D.

Still waiting to hear here, nothing from Acorn and nothing from anyone else either, just sitting tight and hoping. I applied for Cardiff and Carmarthen in July 2020. Anyone else heard anything about Carmarthen?

Getting slightly worried about the ATAVT test (traffic scenes). I’ve got the practice download and even with the time set at 1.5seconds (I believe it actually 1 second) I’m struggling to get more than 20% score. I’m hoping the real assessment scores it differently from the practice material. Anyone with any experience got any advice. Thanks.

When I started I was getting around that but got better and better
Keep plugging away

on the day the pictures are definitely easier
The practice software will have one person right in the background that you miss or something so don’t fret
Others have found the same so just use it as good practice and you will be fine on the day

train hard fight easy:lol:
