RTT shows 458512 is at Waterloo in P22 for 5Y86 to Wimbledon. I think this is end of day for this diagram although it may re-appear on one of the two turns that come off Wimbledon for the evening peak 1535 & 1720 to Reading, although I don't think it is booked? 458503 hasn't been reported on RTT since 28/01.

Also is 456013 at Wimbledon or Clapham

Last one’s i need for sight

Any assistance appreciated
6013 is on the drag from Wimbledon to Long Marston today. Due Clapham circa 1138.

8503 can be seen from Wimbledon depot driveway the unit has now moved to the Top Yard and is prepped for 1445 departure 5C83 to Waterloo via East Putney

Here’s the the RTT path for the 456 move that’s happening now:

Just as a side point, does the route from Clapham Jn P7 via the ladder across to the Windsors, and on towards the West London line mean from a signalling point of view a train effectively enters Clapham Yard, and immediately leaves again?

That’s correct, I believe the panel operator at Clapham Yard has to accept the routing.

Thanks, I just looked it up in the public SA and from the way the various lines in and out of the yard are drawn it also looks that way, a sort of “short cut” straight across the yard throat, as it were…

Well it's probably the best way to get from Wimbledon to Kensington for that sort of train.

Confirmed with 37884 earlier on at goring and Streetly with 456006 456021 456013 on full throttle when passing through the station. 37884 hard at work.

Good evening also to report that at reading tonight on the 1712 2c56 reading to London Waterloo service 458526 on front leading end to London.
However 458503 was on the buffers at reading making place for a very nice photo in the evening dusk.
For those that need it 458503 has rentered service and is tonight with 458526.

It's certainly an unusual routing for sure, but I can see how it is used to effectively skip across the Windsor lines.

Rarely used as it needs cooperation of Clapham yard box and the main line and Windsor side Clapham area signallers at Wimbledon to set up the route and its slow speed so will block the Windsor side for a quite period of time so getting a path historically was difficult. Guess in the slim down SWR timetables they found a path.

I'm assuming a 37/7 would be barred from the Wimbledon-Point Pleasant Jct route, which would be the other alternative?

Wouldn't an easier way be to go clockwise via Kingston?
What ever route is taken involves crossing all lines at some point. It really isn't that big of a deal that the consist crosses all the Windsor lines. Ecs leaving clapham for Waterloo regularly does or certainly used to leave and traverse all lines.

If it was that much of a disruption then the move would not be planned that way.

Any reason why a short formed 458 is out today? Thought we had enough stock for when the December timetable returns…

Power supply fault at Wimbledon. Can’t get stock out of sidings. Nothing to do with stock faults

Tomorrow's 456s are 6024/6009/6014. In the usual position on 6 road New Sidings awaiting the 37 to drop on top in the morning.

Back in the 1980s had a class 47 hauled Merrymaker from Brockenhurst to Blackpool lights that used that route (including the now removed flyover northbound). Suspect they were heavier and longer than a 37/7 so unless route has been downgraded, can’t see why they would be restricted

According to the Sectional Appendix it's now barred to all locomotives.
