Much of my thoughts have been mentioned above.
i.e not a significant preference either way other than the option on Jet 2 to order an inflight meal if the timing would mean having to try to manage an airport breakfast at 0530, or arriving back in the afternoon to a 3 1/2 hour drive home (sorry, rail travel hasn't been reliable enough for me to risk jeopardising a holiday).

Seat Guru has been mentioned, and if you want to select your seats I found that useful.
With 737s (whether the 800 or Max) I avoid Rows 11, 12 & 14 where there are "windowless windows" at the window seats.

Hello everyone, thank you for your help in choosing which airline: Tui or Jet2.
Jet2 seems the obvious choice however at the end of the day I shall be working from the price of the holiday (including accomodation.) However if it is an equal/ similar price Jet2 is clearly evidenced to be my choice.
Kind regards, Will.

Out of the bucket and spade Airlines jet2 is preferred to tui.
The only thing with jet2 is that they treat you like kids with patronising announcements and no headphones allowed during take off and landing

No bothered by the Flight as its not long, as I go on a package I use TUI as the Hotels are better and more destinations.

Understandably so? If there was some sort of emergency, you'd be completely oblivious to it. Safety over comfort during takeoff & landing.

In any case, I'd rather pick easyJet or British Airways, but as already stated they don't either fly form Birmingham or don't fly to Reus from BHX. Are TUI and jet2 the only solid options or can Ryanair form Stansted be seriously considered?

Its the only airline I've flown on that won't let you wear headphones during takeoff and landing.
Most airlines with seat back tvs have entertainment gate to gate.

If legroom is a major issue, get exit row seats. I was pleasantly surprised with the legroom on the Ryanair exit row seats I used last month. I’m sure Jet2 and TUI will be similar if not better!
Only issue with that is they don’t allow bags to be placed under the seat in front of you on those rows. They have to go in the overhead bins for take off and landing.

Just a quick update: My family are visiting the local holiday shop on Saturday in the hope of booking a Jet2 holiday to a location in the Costa de Almeria, may I thank everybody for advising me on which airline is best to suit my requirements.

Kind Regards, Will.

Not really relevant yet but Jet2 have 98 Airbus A320/321neo on order that will wholly replace their 737/757s.

Why would you willingly chose to fly Ryanair over something else?

Sit rep.
Today we have booked a holiday to Lanzarote with jet2, thanks for everyone's help in choosing the best airline!

We flew Jet2 to Reus last October from Leeds Bradford. We took advantage of the seat layout of the aircraft which had two rows of 2 seats rather than 3.

Something you should be wary of is that Jet2 will not refund you if you decide to cancel your flight.
Do any airlines refund?
I know if you book a Jet2holidays package they will offer a "cancel and rebook" voucher valid for 6 months if you decide not to go.

I flew with Jet2 to Rhodes in autumn 2019 with my mobility-reduced grandmother and diabetic (Type 1) brother. Easily the best short-haul airline I've used to date - comfy, relatively roomy seats with better-than-average legroom, very friendly staff (allowed us on the plane first!). As I didn't pay for it, I can't comment on value, but the customer facing experience was fantastic!

It caught me out the other month, when Wizz decided to cancel my flight and I then sought to cancel the Jet2 return leg.

Has anybody been on the a321's, what are they like?
A321s for which airline? They are just the same as regular A320neos on easyJet. Although, the seats aren't as comfortable on BA's A320neo/A321neos, as they were on the regular A320s/A321s.

Not been on a Jet2 one, if you are wondering about that, as there are only 3. There area some orders it appears, for some A321neo.

The A321 neo's aren't coming till 2027, as of there only being 3 they always hire more in the summer season.
Any yes I am on about jet2.

They're leased / not owned by Jet2.

They were previously operated by Thomas Cook before they went bust, so if you ever flew on one then you'll know what they're like. Standard hi-density bucket and spade config I'd imagine.

In that case I've flown on one (with Thomas Cook). I stand to be corrected here, but I found the legroom particularly poor. I thought at the time Wizz and Easyflot (A320s) were slightly more generous?

I believe standard seat pitch on the a321 is 1 inch more generous than the standard config a320. High density is anybody's guess though, and depends on a number of factors including things like when the last refit was. you'll get better leg room in a newer interior where they have them slimline seats vs an older one with the chunkier seats. If you were ever unfortunate enough to fly on Thomas Cook's 757s you'll know what I'm on about.

I'm fairly certain all of the British leisure and low cost carriers offer the same seat pitch now (29") on all airbus short haul flights. Jet2's 737s offer slightly more legroom than their Airbuses, and tbh until you arrive at the gate and physically see your plane I wouldn't 100% guarantee what you'll be flying on anyway.

Interesting, thanks. I flew on a Wizz A320neo last year and it was comfortable enough. My knees weren’t pressed against the seat in front for a start, which I remember being a “feature” of the Thomas Cook A321s!

Although, a bit like insurance, you only really find out how good the company is when things go wrong/you have to claim.
Clearly the case at the start of the Covid-19 epedemic; I was booked for Rhodes with Jet2 for Easter 2020 and it won't surprise anyone that I had my fare refunded by Jet2 without argument. Of course I used the money to pay for my return to Rhodes in October 2022 with Jet2. I have more recently tended to pay extra for the front row on Jet2, so I can't talk about seat spacing, and my first priority is for a direct flight at a time of day convenient to me - if I'm going on holiday I don't want a 5am flight, thank you very much! I have always found the Jet2 service perfectly acceptable and overall value for money; I once flew out to Rhodes with Thomas Cook because the flight time was better for me but that's no longer an option, but I'd probably choose Tui if it were the case in future.

Oh yes, I've flown Ryanair but never had things go wrong on the few occasions I've used them, they're OK and I'll use them if they offer a direct flight at a good time of day but otherwise not.

Same here. Was due to go to Mallorca with Jet2 in April 2020 and we were refunded quite quickly by Jet2.

Our ideal flights out would be going 8am to 9am and return around 12:30pm to 13:30pm. We like to get there as soon as possible (but not too early) and leave a relaxing time after breakfast when coming back.
For us, there's nothing worse then having to hang around on the last day waiting for a later flight.
All our hols are Europe.
