Simple either use the National Rail Smartcard manager App or a TVM alternatively if the station you selected for collection has gates just tap and hold the smartcard on the gate for slightly longer than normal. All else failing ask one of the staff in the Travel Cente to load it onto your card.

NRSM: I tried that and for some reason it kept not working. I’ll have to try again to see what it said, but it was something along the lines of nothing to load.
TVM: I purchased the ticket online. When I looked at the weekly option, smartcard delivery seemed to be an option in the delivery details section. Despite the flexi season also being advertised as allowing smartcard delivery, it isn’t listed in the delivery details and instead lists e-tickets only.
Station for collection: I didn’t have to select a station for collection of the ticket. Each morning it just seems to be activated through the LNER app, which seems funny given they offer smartcards and their flexi season is advertised as working with the smartcard. Yet it doesn’t seem to be an option.
Travel Centre: Would I need to do this each morning after activating my ticket, or just once per flexi season ticket pack purchased please?
