It appears that some high winds are predicted north of Newcastle tomorrow.

LNER already cancelled most planned services north of Newcastle to be replaced with an hourly service at restricted speed.
No doubt other operators will be planning similar.
Services are already very busy (I know, I’m booked on one at lunch time and seat reservations fairly full on them all before this announcement).

No cross operator ticket acceptance it seems though if they’re all running trains that likely makes the most sense.

We shall see what transpires.

Is it usually 50mph ?

I'm supposed to be travelling tomorrow too, London to Edinburgh then Inverness.

Loads of Scotrail services cancelled too. Looks like it will be a fun day.

I'm supposed to be on 0655 NCL-YRK, and 0813 YRK-KGX. Both still showing as running, even though all my 'backup' trains have already been cancelled.

-
Update:

Newcastle very windy but station is quiet this morning. The 0655 (actual dep. 0702) is deserted, despite expecting that it would be full of passengers for the cancelled 0704.

A couple of the trains that had been showing as cancelled last night are running again.

Currently on 1E02 running roughly 45 minutes late out of York. York has been chaos due to a tree on the line somewhere between York and Leeds. TPE services to Scarborough were being abandoned, XC services running almost an hour late and of course LNER running over 30 minutes late. Northern has been cancelling services to Blackpool North due to a train hitting an obstruction on the line and Harrogate services are disrupted. GC service running over 30 minutes late.

Was there any mention of cross operator ticket acceptance?

I am booked with Lumo, but if it's delayed more than about half an hour I'll miss my onward connection to Inverness which is the last train of the day. Wondering if it's worth turning up at KGX early to see if they'll let me on an earlier LNER service.

Train Manager in 1E02 just informed us that there is debris on the line near Retford. A GC 180 just passed us going Nortbound.

Not that I heard.

Lots of announcements about weather delays, and plenty of people with tickets for other LNER services, but no announcement of cross-operator acceptance.

Currently sat on 1D53 (10:20 Edinburgh to Glasgow via Carstairs) and we don’t seem to have exceeded 45mph since leaving Haymarket. Currently running about 6 minutes down (though will no doubt get worse).

My service from Glasgow also slowed to about 75mph after Linlithgow all the way to Haymarket.

I’ve noticed some services on RTT have had an extra 10-15 minutes worth of time added on, this particular service arrives 1127, but they’ve added on 15 minutes more so it’s now 1142.

EMR reporting the services between Newark and Lincoln are suspended due to high winds.

“Due to today's weather causing high winds our trains are unable to run between Leicester and Lincoln. This is disrupting our trains on the Leicester/Nottingham/Lincoln/Grimsby route and the Nottingham/Newark/Lincoln route.
It is likely that the weather issues will continue for the rest of the day. Please check your journey before you travel.

We have a shuttle bus service running betweenNottingham -Newark- Lincoln and Lincoln - Grimsby. These buses will run all stops. There aren't estimated times for these buses so please speak to station staff for assistance.”

I wonder if LNER will be able to get through.

Wind is currently gusting at around 40 knots at Eyemouth and between Grantham-Peterborough.

There also appears to be an issue in the Grove Road Crossovers area. 1E02, 1E80 & 1A70 are all in a queue just south of Retford. Area is quite notorious for OHLE issues.

1E08, the 0900 Edinburgh–King's Cross, started short from Newcastle. 1E07, the 0830 Edinburgh–King's Cross, did run from Edinburgh (although it's in RTT as separate Edinburgh–Newcastle and Newcastle–King's Cross services for some reason!) but was just over half an hour late into Newcastle, got stuck behind 1E08, and has been going slowly since. Now both trains have come to a halt at Ferryhill — the train manager just told us this is due to an object caught in the overhead wires. Engineers are, apparently, on site.

Crew on 1E02 offering complimentary hot drinks and water to everyone in Standard, very thoughtful.

Sorry, but what is BESR? I'm guessing Something begging with B Emergency Speed Restriction?
Usually refers to a 'blanket emergency speed restriction'. (One which is imposed on many lines, over a wide geographical area, and perhaps without the installation of speed restriction warning signs).

Oh, 1E08 seems to be on the move now. I might have been wrong that that train was caught in the overhead line problems; instead it seems they were behind 1E08 because we're still stopped on 1E07 and 1V56 has now pulled up behind us too.

Looking like Crewe-Derby, Nottingham-Newark-Lincoln, Derby-Matlock, and Nottinham- Worksop are all closed. Although MML is still running the Derby-Ambergate section.
Only OLE related incident is the Notts-Hucknal which is blamed on the tram OLE coming down and hitting the level crossing barriers

Apologies, Blanket emergency speed restriction.

Plastic bag on the over head wires are ferryhill has caused issues to both up and down lines.

Up line between Kidsgrove and Stoke is blocked, which probably hasn't helped there, although a couple of early Derby - Crewe services did turn around at Stoke.

Well away from the ECML but there have also been no trains southbound from Macclesfield since 06:16 this morning as a result. 5K89 05:38 Stockport - Stoke ECS (323237) and 5K10, presumably the ECS from 2K10 05:43 Manchester Piccadilly - Stoke (323235) which terminated short at Kidsgrove, are both showing as sitting just south of Longport on Traksy and Open Train Times. Overhead line issue reported as the cause.

Appears there's now an issue just north of Grantham, lots of services queueing up.

Also NNG Platform 1 appears to be out of action with northbound services using Platform 2.
