Wonder if he'll resurface elsewhere in the paddock?
I suspect so, he brings sponsorship. Apparently MoneyGram are unimpressed and exploring options to terminate their sponsorship early as a result of his departure.

I find it surprising Haas have such deep pockets to keep funding the team anyhow

Gene Haas isn’t short of money. Haas is just canny enough not to spend his own money supporting his sports team if he can avoid it. Just how much money he has access to at any one time is debatable but Haass Automation has annual revenue of $1BN. Roger Penske is also well known for a similar aversion to spending his own money.

However the current cost cap era encourages capital investment. Haas does look increasingly out of step and their buy everything model really doesn’t look like working in an era where even their closest competitors are investing in facilities to make and develop their own stuff.

At the Autosport show in Birmingham today Guenther Steiner revealed that he was not able to say a proper farewell to the Haas team members. He also revealed he received the news around Christmas/New Year.

No one seems to have told Gene Haas that he can just become a title sponsor if he wants the publicity. Sell the team to Andretti instead.

The new name of the Team previously called AlphaTauri has been revealed. It is ‘Visa Cash App RB’ it will probably be shortened in the commentary to VCARB.

I thought people were having a laugh when they suggested this was going to be the name. It's not the *worst* name I've ever heard but it's not far off it.

I am struggling to think of a worse F1 name mind! Lola Mastercasrd ;)
That at least sounds like one name. Visa Cash App RB sounds like there was an explosion at the sign factory and they picked up the pieces that were left over!

The Spanish Grand Prix has agreed a deal to move to a new hybrid Street/off street track near Madrid around the IFEMA fairgrounds & convention centre from 2026.

Charles Leclerc has agreed a multi year extension to his current contract at Ferrari.

The Australian Grand Prix has announced that there will be no track invasion by fans after the end of this year’s race. This is after issues at the end of the 2023 race.

Lando Norris has signed a new long term contract at McLaren.

Ferrari has announced that Ollie Bearman will be one of its reserve drivers this season alongside Antonio Giovanazzi & Robert Schwartzman.

they tried one race, failed to qualify then imploded.
It was Mastercard that pushed Lola to join the grid in 1997 rather than 1998. Reportedly, it was Mastercard that didn’t want to be shown up by Stewart Grand Prix.

Formula 1 has today turned down an application from Andretti Global to be a new F1 team from 2025, saying that it would not provide value to the championship. It has left things open for 2028 should General Motors be a full engine supplier.

That seems an odd decision to me

Hamilton to Ferrari from next year alongside Lerlerc apparently, fascinating.

If recent history is anything to go by, Ferrari is where champions go to... zzzzz
an interesting development - Does Hamilton, therefore, assume Ferrari can give him a better chance of winning his stolen 8th title. It is a hell of gamble going on past Ferrari performance!

Also who goes into Mercedes? Is anyone top level free on the same time line?

Ferrari have appeared to be the major challenger to Red Bull over the last couple of seasons, they just need to not have complete clowns on the pit wall. Hamilton is probably a strong enough character to get them to sort themselves out. Parallels with Schumacher going to Ferrari in 1996? Though who are the modern Rory Byrne and Ross Brawn? (Could anyone tempt Adrian Newey away from Red Bull?)

I think Alonso is about the only one currently on the grid not tied down. See if Vettel wants to come back to F1?

Hamilton has made no secret over the years that he'd regret it if he didn't drive for them at some point.
