When arriving at Burton Station to catch the 10:21 from Burton to Birmingham (Nottingham - Cardiff service) an announcement was made via the PA to advise that a train had struck cows on the line between Burton and Tamworth and that the 10:21 was being terminated at Derby. Passengers for Birmingham and beyond were advised to catch the 06:06 Edinburgh - Plymouth (1V50) which made an extra stop at Burton and was routed via the Cross City line, arriving into Birmingham some 40 mins late. Not sure what happened to the cows (or the train) but I saw 170111 / 170117 in Elford Loop with staff trackside on my return journey this afternoon. Cross Country didn't seem to make too much of an effort on X to report the ongoing issue although one message I read claimed a person had been stuck on the train for 3 hours and had missed a flight!
Any insider griff on the outcome?
