It may be a 'real' train (though by definition a 14x would be too), but they are woeful in many respects!

But a 390 gives a smoother ride!

Being dragged along by your face would give a smoother ride than a 14x, but 390s have exceptionally poor smoothness when compared to 350s, HSTs (to an extent) and even Mk1s and, for example, 47s!

Ive had smoother rides on a 144 than on a 150 on occasion though.

That sounds right then, ie by the end of CP7, and of course that would include the sprinter life extension now...

It has been said that the 144 units are somewhat a better rail unit by comparison with the 142 units.
