    Easiest/Hardest TOCs to Join

Interesting to see that all the opinions posted above focus solely around crew on trains. Whilst on-board catering / CSA / trainee conductor posititions are probably the best entry level options for most, bear in mind there are FAR more jobs and careers across the rail industry than those...

CrossCountry Voyager fire Derby 18 Jul 18

There was no question, it was a statement. I don't list out unit numbers in my sleep like some do. Point was, there were two five-cars that became four-cars.

True. My maths doesn't work when I'm tired. Proof right there.

News to anyone else! Where'd you get that nugget from? How are they going to put the other driving vehicle into an existing unit?

There aren't any driving vehicles stored anymore. Two 5-cars became 4-cars (140 and 141 I think) to form an additional 4-car (221144)

    Train Describer Messages

There's a lot you see in regular use - ELEC at Waverley in the sidings (presumably the loco for the sleepers), LOCO (usually prior to it becoming a 1Z99), HEAT as someone else mentioned. NOGO often used. With the lineside fire at Doxey the other night closing all running lines through Stafford...

    Courses in Railway Management

Is there a particular aspect of the industry or your potential career direction you want to focus on? Might be more appropriate for you to focus on that than an all-encompassing generic 'railway' degree - for example you could look at Operations Management, Customer Service, Finance, IT - it all...

Passenger Trains delayed by Freight Trains

Yes, but where do you stop with that? The whole point of the CIS screen is to transfer information into a format that is accessible and understood by all. It's not about source delays, that's what level one delay attribution is for surely? If 2X-blip has left station x ahead of 1X-blip then the...

    Trivia:Remaining trains that divide/split

As someone already mentioned XC 1S49 runs as a 4-car to Bristol TM from Plymouth, where a second 4-car (usually from 1V51) attaches. Depending on the diagrammed working, these either both go all the way to Dundee together, or one splits off at Newcastle. Similar happens with XC 1V64 (1307 EDB -...

    End of the station's word!

No. It has a notice for closure that is now ratified and whilst no trains have called there for some years (and passengers are physically unable to access the station) a replacement bus service is scheduled to run until March 2019, and the formal closure process does not conclude until 10th...

    Guess the Train...

This is vexing me. I hadn't zoomed to the full image and seen the handle. It looks kinda cab door of a chopper, but it isn't. The handle doesn't have a plate. I'm really flummoxed. Hoping someone clever chips in!
