So Luton are out of the bottom 3 after Forest were docked 4 points for their financial woes, they'll probably appeal and get the penalty reduced but as a betting man, I've got the feeling that they're going to stay up. So much so that my Bookmaker has just taken a monkey off me.

Manchester United have won a sensational Cup tie 4-3 against Liverpool after extra time. The full time score was 2-2. Chelsea beat Leicester 4-2.

The semi final draw has been made, the ties are:
Coventry City vs Manchester United.
Manchester City vs Chelsea.
Both ties will be played at Wembley.
Can't let the Chelsea v Leicester game go without comment.

Quite apart from the comically awful football on display by Chelsea the BBC production was the worst I have ever seen. "Mr Producer" (no way a woman gets it so wrong) was so in love with action replays that all we saw in real time of the Disasi own goal (classic QofS What Happened Next moment) was the ball crossing the line into an empty net. And this happened all through the game. Some goals got no fewer than five replays from all the different cameras (kudos to the camera operators for sticking with it).

Given the apparent need to also show primadonnas celebrating this meant real action after restarts was consistently missed. And I've no idea whether there was an actual restart after Chelsea's very late fourth as by the time the producer cut back to live pictures the ref had blown up and there were handshakes all round. And when the producer got bored live action was again sacrificed for crowd shots both of "celebs" and randoms. Now these sorts of things are hardly unknown in tv broadcasts but given that the BBC normally does these things quite well this was a massive outlier.

I suspect this producer is more used to stop-start sports (rugby?), perhaps they should stick to what they know. I certainly hope this particular individual never darkens the production booth of a live football broadcast ever again. And a general reminder to all involved in broadcasting football: endless replays are for the highlights show. A live game should be shown live in all its glory (or mediocrity).

Forest seem peeved at their 4 point reduction, and are going to appeal. I think they got off relatively lightly, and doubt if the penalty will be reduced!

Former Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttel is back in management as the new manager of Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg replacing Nick Kovac who was sacked at the weekend.

Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has been called up to the full England squad, he was previously in the U21’s.

Fulham coach Luis Boa Morte will leave at the end of the season to become manager of Guinea-Bissau.

Cheshire Senior Cup - Semi Final

Cheadle Town 0 ... Hyde United 3

This match gave Hyde a chance to bring some of the younger squad players a taste of first team football and for the club to have a place in the final. They took the lead in the 23rd minute and in the second half, added more goals in the 52nd and 63rd minutes to register a comfortable win.

A big boost for Man City ahead of the UCL QF as Thibaut Courtois suffers another knee injury, to the right knee this time.
But it's still season over for him just as he was approaching a return to the starting 11.

FC Halifax Town 4-2 Chesterfield

Champions-elect came to the Shay needing one point from their final seven games to seal promotion back to league two, but they and their 2,304 supporters left with nowt after a brilliant performance from Town on a pitch that resembled a cross between a cabbage patch and a cow field

Rob Harker led the line brilliantly and scored two goals, the second a nice dinked finish after a fantastic through ball from Flo Hoti, Andrew Oluwabore was pretty much unplayable, and Jack Hunter did all the hard work in midfield

Halifax are now seven wins in our last eight games, up into sixth place and looking well set for the playoffs *

* This normally means an implosion is imminent

Breaking: #lcfc have been charged by the Premier League for an alleged breach of PSR, and for "failing to submit their audited financial accounts to the League". More to follow @TeleFootball

l know Herr Klopp likes to moan about fixture congestion, but spare a thought for Truro City in the National League North, owing to pitch issues, @ both their own and other grounds they've hired, they've now got to play 13 games in 28 days!

If Truro are in the National League North, something has gone very wrong indeed!

All the fuss over the flag on the new England kits, but thing that's been missed are the kit prices, £124.99 for an adult shirt, £119.99 for kids shirt, for the players version, even replica shirts are quite pricey now, & the authorities wonder why sites selling fake kits like DHgate do well.

Collar of the England shirt 2011/12. Maybe it’s my memory, but I don’t recall masses of complaints about this. It’s as if there’s an agenda now

JD Welsh Cup semi-final fixtures

23rd March ..... Connah's Quay Nomads v. Bala Town

30th March .... Cardiff Met v. The New Saints.

Both matches to be played on a neutral ground with a 17:15 kick-off time.
With the final on Sunday April 28th at Newport with a 17:25 kick off. Oh yes and the strong possibility that there will not be a club from South Wales in the final!!!

Good point well made. Also some of the papers were taking exception to the red cross being messed around with without mentioning that the white background isn’t there at all. It’s interesting to note therefore that the latest design is still ‘recognised’ by the press as the flag of St George!

Thank you, that's a new one on me.
I thought it might have been like West Hams Ice Cream Firm - melts when the going gets hot.

Again there has been little or no attempt to play the final at a ground more convenient for the Welsh team (although to be fair, somewhere like Palmerston Park in Dumfries, might not be big enough and the Scots, understandably, wouldn't want the game played in England or Wales).

Still not as bad as 2019 when Ross County played Connahs Quay Nomads at Inverness (26 vs 399 miles).
